Princess Quality

Hi, is it just me? Or does anyone find themselves continually going back to Princess? Is it that wide range of onboard activities? The superb variety of food? The comfort of the cabins? Or just the iterinaries they offer? What is it that makes The Princess Cruise Line great?

October 29 was my first cruise and it was aboard the Caribbean Princess. My wife had cruised before with her first husband on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. She said that Princess beat them both hands down. I know that we are definitely going to be repeat cruisers with Princess. The quality and service we received was top shelf all the way. My wife says their rewards program for repeat customers is the best she's seen. The value you get for the money can't be beat and they have all the most popular itineraries that people want.

I'm on my 6th Princess cruise over Christmas on the Caribbean Princess. With the exception of a Northern Europe/British Isles cruise in July on the Golden, all have been to the Caribbean. I have also done Alaska, Europe, Caribbean and a Fall Trans-Atlantic on other lines.

Prior to sailing on Princess I was, and still am a BIG Celebrity fan. However, I find myself going back to Princess because of the Anytime dining, better entertainment, usually superior pricing, multiple pools/hot tubs and a more casual atmosphere than Celebrity and HAL, and just being a much better product than NCL/RCI and Carnival.

At this stage of my cruise life (Wife and I are both in our mid-40's) Princess is who I always check first, Celebrity or HAL 2nd and Royal Caribbean/NCL/Carnival (to me they are all the same) last.

As far as Princess, I compare it to the same level as Royal Caribbean, but with better food and slightly lower key. There is also a more mature atmosphere (40,50's,60's) on this line, like Celebrity and Holland America or a Premium ship. It is very relaxing and they have one of the best itineraries that spans throughout the world! I LOVE the Tahitan Princess. You have to consider what kind of cruise you're looking for: relaxing or action packed. Celebrity is owned by Royal Caribbean Int and Carnival owns Princess and HAL. All are different brands that offer a lot. Royal Caribbean and Carnival = action packed. HAL and Celebrity- low key and relaxing and Princess in the middle- little bit of both- depending on the itinerary. Whatever you choose...Enjoy!

I think that with Princess you get a pretty reliable standard of quality. The service is friendly, the ambience is relaxed, the entertainment is generally good and the food is generally good, the repeat customer perks are great and we feel COMFORTABLE on this line. I guess it all boils down to comfort - both physical and emotional.

Princess had the best itinerary and a good price for us this Christmas. Last year we sailed on Holland America and the year before on Celebrity. It comes down to itinerary and price between these three cruise lines. I'd gladly book whichever works best for us.

And when we're on a Princess cruise, there are various things we miss from the other cruise lines--but there are lots of things we're glad to get back to as well.

For all of those who posted on this thread, I thank you. If you posted that Princess is of top quality and excellence, then I agree. If you said that Princess is a 'garbage' cruise line, then you're wrong... :D

If any one is booked on any Princess cruise in 2007, please post so, we may meet onboard!

Happy Cruising and Keep Posting!

But comparing Disney to Princess from an adult perspective, DH & I found them nearly identical for service, activities, amenities.

We feel Princess dining room food is superior to DCL. We did not eat in Sabatinis on the Star but PALO on DCL may well be the best restaurant I have eaten in EVER. That being said, I see no need to spend 30% more for an equivalent experience...and many more children!

My folks put Celebrity first, followed closely by RCI, and NCL a distant third. They will be on the Crown thru Panama in Feb. It will be interesting to hear their comparison!

I agree, Palo's is our favorite restaurant and the chocolate souffle is one of the best deserts I have ever eaten.

Disney and Princess are our 2 lines we stick to and have enjoyed taking the kids on DCL as each year they appreciate different things on the ship as they grow.

Princess is just special to us, we always have a good time, love the ships we have been on and enjoy the casino which DCL does not have,

We're booked on the Coral Princess October 11, 2007 to the Panama Canal. I've started a roll call for it over on the Roll Call board.

Just back from NCL because we wanted to try another line...it didn't meet the standards we were use to....It wasn't a bad cruise because we made the best of it.

Can't wait to get back on Princess in Jan!!

I do want to try RCI, eventhough I hate the idea of traditional seating.

We first cruised on Princess because of anytime dining and a great advertised price for a balcony. We are now going on our 4th Princess cruise on Star in February 2007. We have cruised on a number of other lines but Princess seems to be most comfortable for us-anytime dining, decent pricing, great itineraries, and a laid back casual atmosphere. :o

We are booked on the Island Princess for the Oct 9, 2007 Panama Canal. We choose it for the itinerary. Only other cruise was to Alaska on Celebrity’s Mercury. I hope Princess lives up to all your comments we are enjoying reading these boards.

We have sailed on many different cruiselines, Celebrity, Holland, RCI etc, and have enjoyed each one. We cannot say one line is superior to the other however we just feel more comfortable on Princess. It just fits like a glove. This is just our opinion. We love to cruise and Princess just seems to work for us. :)

We have tried Carnival, RCI and Princess. Princess is our only repeat cruise line.

We love activities in the evening; ships (Grand Class) are easy to navigate around. Always seem to have the best port choices. We prefer fewer sea days and we can always find good choices with Princess.

As Platinum cruisers on Princess, we strayed to Royal Caribbean for a Nov 10-19th cruise because we wanted to get away, we could drive to the port, and the price for a Jr. Suite was too good to pass up. (Review at: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=444808)

For us that was a mistake, it is back to Princess, because Princess has always assured us a much more enjoyable experience in all ways.

I guess if you like towel animals and other kitschy elements, then other lines may be attractive.

However, despite an occasional glitch, for the great itineraries, and well-maintained ships, delightful overall experience, and value for money, we will take Princess.
