If you have shopped there, tell me about your experiences, etc.. Thanks! How about things for kiddies? Any goodies to be found?

Even though the island is operated by RCCL and used solely for their use (I believe), the merchants at the Straw Village do not accept the ship's SeaPass card. You'll need to pay cash ... credit cards are not accepted either. There are a good number of shops, we wandered through them all back in May, and will be there again next Monday on our Mariner of the Seas cruise. Rare c-boy Posted November 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 24, 2006 So my fellow golf king...have you played any coarses in the Carribean ?
yogimax Posted November 24, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 24, 2006 We found it to be lacking in variety and highly overpriced. The real straw market in Nassau is much better
suezyq50 Posted November 24, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 24, 2006 I agree the one in Nassau is better. They like to deal with you. Much more to select from.
Glencoe3 Posted November 24, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 24, 2006 the Nassau straw market is much better priced (is that a word?) On Nassau we got 4 t-shirts for $9-10 on Coco Cay - cheapest were 3 for $15.
cb at sea Posted November 24, 2006 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2006 I guess it all depends if you like that "souvenier-type" junk! We did the Nassau one once--and that was MORE than enough! I'm not much on buying stuff just for the sake of buying it! I'd really love to be able to shop where the residents do--most of the "shopping" areas near the dock is strictly for the tourists! You don't imagine that the residents purchase any of that stuff! I'd rather spend my money on a better cabin, than on t-shirts!
yogimax Posted November 24, 2006 #11 Share Posted November 24, 2006 I'd rather spend my money on a better cabin, than on t-shirts! Sorry, to disagree. I'll take an inside cabin any day and enjoy spending the money I save on other things - or even better, another cruise!
