In advance, I am sorry if I make some folks mad. I have just sorted through two pages of postings trying to find the updates from Shoreguy. Instead I get lots of well wishers adding their two cents with good luck, thanks, great job, bon voyage, see ya soon, etc. etc.

All well and good, but gee whiz......

I love reading and hearing from Shoreguy...

Don't forgot things like "Shoreguy - please go find cabin 6577 and find out the room steward's name and tell him or her that the Baxters from Pheonix will be there on January 15th!"

I agree with you completely and I was one of the ones asking him to do a proper blog. Oh well maybe next time!

And here I am adding a another post for people to weed through. :D

I'm new to the "blog" idea - Is it supposed to be a "One person" post?

Weeding is a good thing in my neck-o-the-woods.:)

I'll read with interest and hopefully others not with your group will post so we can compare. I'd like to know how the cruise is for the regular people that don't have direct access to all the brass at NCL. I think it will be interesting to see how or if the experiences differ. Have a good trip.

Have a great trip Jim. Looking forward to reading.

Anybody can develop access by going to the meet and greets and following up with written correspondence. It works. The brass love to hear comments and do respond. Shoreguy has been doing this for years.

Apparently. ;) Perhaps I should add NCL to my Christmas card list and then I'll be on their list for insider info and perks. Great idea gregandamy. Thanks!

Have a great crossing Shoreguy! Looking for your day-by-day, hour-by-hour, minute-to-minute "shots from the hip"... as they are always full of useful information. Take good care of her as we'll be on her in April... Meanwhile, we have to do a warm-up on the Sun in a couple weeks;)

Greetings from London - Almost to the Pearl. No sleep it it seems the flight was the crying baby and screaming child flight. The plane was full and lots of youngsters stuck on their parents lap or running the aisles.. Thank goodness for the ipod and onboard entertainment.

Arrived at Heathrow early, exited the baggage claim, and meet Tina standing with her NCL sign. Waited about an hour for my sons flight to arrive and then Tina escorted us to our driver Pete who loaded are bags in his car and off to the Holiday Inn Forum Kensington. Hotel is fine and there was an NCL rep in the lobby with a package containing some local information and details for or transfer to Southampton. A few hours sleep and off to the pub for a pint and fish n chips.

I did just get an email from snoopyto who is also on this cruise. They have arrived in Southampton already. They ended up checking in with Pamela Stanley who is working this cruise.

Well off to Westminster for the night. At 15 pounds a day for internet here at the hotel you may not here from me after tomorrow morning until we are on the Pearl.

Maybe a proper blog is in order ;)

Jim, First of all, have the best voyage of your life. We all know how much it means for you to do the maiden voyages. We look forward to your reports especially on the excellent crew aboard her. If you get the chance to talk with Pamela Stanley, please, apologize to her for me for requesting "theme from the Titanic" aboard the Dawn Wave Cruise. It seems that it was a prime complaint from the Class action suit people and the attorney for NCL was very pleased when he found out that I had requested it. Hope she did not get any flack for it. Have a safe and healthy journey. Eileen

Can't wait to see the look on here face when I do. Details to follow.

Shoreguy, sorry to hear about the screaming angels flight. Hopefully tonight won't be a repeat performance, though I've got my earplugs out and eyemask ready. After a couple of benadryl and a little wine, perhaps I'll be able to float off for a little while.:D

Enjoy your time in London with your son. So much to see and little time. We enjoyed the Big Bus hopper last time with its various routes, but we had a little more time than you.

Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the Mad Mariners at the Star Bar Sat. evening.:D

Now I've just got to figure out a way to read the blog onboard.

I like the blog here - I like the interaction and banter.;)

Have a wonderful cruise, Shoreguy. By the way -- try out one of those tile chairs if they have them on the Pearl. You provided me a photo of the ones on the Jewel, but said you hadn't actually tried one out. My DH thought they were wonderfully comfortable. I'm short enough that they kind of zigged where I zagged, but they were more comfortable than I expected given that they're tile.

Cecelia -- if Shoreguy was to do an actual "blog" that didn't allow for others to comment, would there be a way to sticky a link to it so that we could follow his travels without having to read through all the congratulatory posts? I know I'm going to want to read his comments, but having to wade through 100 different posts in between each one (and yes, I know I'm contributing to the problem here), is going to make it hard to follow.

Shoreguy ~

I think you should post as is best for you but you have always done a post here and tolerated us all.

You know that either way you will encounter hundreds of questions.

I'm not sure why the newbies would have a problem "bypassing" anything they do not wish to read:confused:

Since when did this become an "improper" blog"

Glad to hear you and your son arrived safely.

Have a wonderful cruise:)

Newbies, or oldie - as mentioned by a few others, it is getting difficult to read the postings from Shoreguy because we have to scan through all the other messages. Well meaning messages, but of little value and surely very little to do with the thread that is titled "Shoreguy Blog".

Okay, I did it and contributed to the vast wasteland as well. Shoot me.

AND - once Shoreguy gets on the ship, it is going to cost him lots of extra time and $money$ to scroll through all these "nice messages".

We can only sticky CC posts. IE: board directives from the board admin or directives the hosts are told to post, etc. There's also no way for one member to be able to post to a thread but disallow everyone else. Unfortunately, the best Shoreguy can do is post to this thread and hope that the general comments taper off and actual questions make up the majority of the postings. You can also subscribe to this thread and receive the posts in your e mail box and wade through them faster that way. Worst case scenario you wait until he returns and hopefully he'll submit an official review and you can read it then. :)

They aren't. It just makes it hard to weed through all the posts trying to find Shoreguy's posts regarding the crossing. True blogs have separate sections for well-wishing and comments that don't distract the reader.

This is fine. Cecilia and others have given some great suggestions to help counter that effect. :)

One more day until we are on the Pearl and some posts that matter. Bags need to be out in the hallway at 7 am, Depart the hotel at 9:30 am. Only 12 NCL passengers in the hotel. For those who book this hotel in the future. The room is about the size of a standard balcony cabin on the Dawn/Jewel. I have a great view of a roof but tomorrow the Sea.

Never got out of the pub last night. Picked up a pass for the tube today and played tourist. Even got to see some real bling – The crown jewels – Had my eye on the 530 ct diamond on the top of the scepter. Can’t wait to get out of London before I go broke.

Meeting some folks tonight we crossed on the Jewel with last fall.

24 hours and set sail on the Pearl.

Next post from the ship.
