Pre-hotel (Amsterdam)/Post-hotel (Zurich)

I am taking an Avalon Waterways cruise (Romantic Rhine) in August and plan to arrive one day early and stay one day beyond the cruise. I will need a hotel room in Amsterdam (pre) and Zurich (post). If any of you have hotel recommendations, I'd appreciate your input. I prefer to stay in first class hotels that offer a number of amenities.
