Lori in AZ Posted January 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2007 My cruise will depart from Rome and arrive in Venice at end of trip. My concern is how to book that without it being expensive. What do you do? I don't want to book air through cruise because they give lousy dates/times. I want to arrive at least couple days before cruise and probably afterward. I read that someone said to book a round trip in one city. Just take the train back to Rome after Venice. But I dont know if we want to be on train so much? thanks for any ideas or tips. Andee Posted January 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2007 I usually check on sites like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, ITASoftware, etc, using the multiple cities option. We have not found open jaw tickets to be significantly more expensive than a true round trip.
vivian02 Posted January 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2007 You will be looking for what is called an open jaw routing. I would suggest to try multi cities in kayak.com. Venice - VCE, Rome - FCO. This will save you time and money. Tim
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2007 You have the right approach. Definitely fly in a couple of days ahead of time. I would first try making a RT with the two different cities involved. You may find that the price is not too different from say flying RT to Rome and you'll have the added convenience of not having to take a train from Venice to Rome. Where you really lose out is say flying one way from the US to Rome. That happens when folks book a trans-atlantic cruise and learn that the price for the one way airfare is about the same as RT.
