Marie321 Posted January 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2007 We were on the Westerdam 12/31/06 - 1/7/07. The captain was Henk Keijer. However, the captain disembarked when we did for a 4 month vacation. They announced who the new captain would be during the 4 months, but I did not catch the name. Captain Keijer is the youngest captain in the fleet. The hotel manager was Rene Tuinman. The executive chef was Franck Tieben.

jerseygirl3 Posted January 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2007 We booarded the Westerdam today. The crew so far is amazing. We met the executive chef in the elevator...he was very friendly. His name was Christophe from France. Don't recall his last name. So far, I'm very impressed with HAL. The staff has been outstanding.
Schplinky Posted January 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2007 I agree with Jersey. The staff and the food were the high points for us. Very friendly staff.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted January 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2007 Sounds like Peter Harris (Westerdam) and Dirk "watch the finger" van den Berg (Amsterdam) swapped ships;)
Stevesan Posted January 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2007 Captain and who is the Executive Chef? Can't help you. So far in our dozen or more cruises we've yet to even meet, much less schmooze with, either the Captain or the Executive Chef. That hasn't seemed to affect our cruises, though. BTW - Only Kreskin was amazing, and he's dead!

minitor Posted February 1, 2007 #11 Share Posted February 1, 2007 Happy to report that the Amazing Kreskin is still alive. deadoraliveinfo.com Staff/Crew on Hal are always amazing. HAL home office maybe not so much...but I spend 7 days with the ship staff and that really counts.
