Victory in June? NYC to Canada

We're looking into the June 25 sailing out of NYC on Victory, 5 nights, St. John & Halifax. It would be our 5th cruise, but 1st on Carnival and 1st out of NYC. [We live in Southern NJ.]

We've heard many mixed reviews of young folks' & teens' wild behavior on Carnival, especially in the Caribbean, but one CC reviewer said that she thought the avg. age of her cruise to Canada (in Sept. 2006) was 68!

We've sailed Celebrity (2x), RC, and HAL. The RC was also to Canada/NE 2 years ago out of Philly -- super convenient. Celebrity Horizon was out of Philly to Bermuda in July -- too hot -- that ship has been sold. The other Celeb & HAL were Eastern Caribbean out of Ft. Lauderdale.

Friends who have sailed out of NYC have told us sailing down the Hudson, into the harbor, and out to sea under the Verrazano br is spectacular and not to be missed.

Any comments are welcome.

Absolutely correct! Passing by the Statue of Liberty and under the Verrazanno-Narrows Bridge are amazing sights.

St. John is somewhat lame but a walk along the Halifax boardwalk is a real treat!

The 5-night to Canada on Victory three years ago (about the same time in June that you're looking at) was our first cruise, and we loved it - if you can see my signature, you'll see we did the 4-night last year and are booked again for the 5-night this year. Sailing in late June you will have a larger number of families than a September cruise would have. We've also done the Caribbean twice on Carnival and are going again in 2 weeks:cool: , and while there may be been individual instances of some rowdy behavior, nothing way out of line.

Sailaway from NYC is a great experience. I'd also recommend getting up early when you return; New York at dawn is great, and you will get better photos of the Statue of Liberty than you will at sailaway - in the morning, the sun will be behind you, while in the afternoon you'll be shooting into the sun.

BTW, I'm originally from South Jersey as well - Burlington County.
