Are children allowed in the piano bar?

We cruised without children last time and had fun at the piano bar. I was wondering if children were allowed in there? Last time I didn't see any. We're cruising on the Carnival Legend this time around.

 

Be aware that the piano bar can become much more adult oriented as the evening rolls along.

First of all, I would have to ask what age your children are. There is a big difference between 4 and 6 year olds and 15 -17 year olds.

 

Yes they are "allowed". The casino is the only place inside that I can think of where children are not allowed.

 

However, even with older children, I would not because of the smoke.

 

I am still campaigning for Carnival to try the Oreck on the piano. I think it would capture a lot of the smoke around the piano itself as it bounces back down from the barrister. It would not clear the whole bar...but it would keep the piano area cleam. It is small and quiet. Use those comment cards folks.

I would love to enjoy the Piano bar but the Smoke killed me this last Pride Cruise, besides the Piano guy wasnt as good anyways I could hear him from the Internet Cafe.

 

I really hope that I will get to enjoy the Piano Bar this April while on the Spirit.

The piano bar starts rather late, and I've only been in there later in the evening when it is a more adult environment, I can't imagine children being in there at that time. If you take them in there, if you aren't uncomfortable, I would imagine the other patrons would be, or could be... it's a bar, in every sense of the word, in my opinion... do you take them to bars at home? I guess it depends on their ages.

I'm of the opinion that after 10pm at night, if I am at a place that is considered adult, I am NOT going to try to temper what I say... it is the parents responsibility to realize that they have brought their children into an adult enviornment - not mine.

If your children are musically incline, and like my daughter plays the piano, I guess they can sit outside of the Lounge, there are nice sofas next to the lounge where they can sit and listen, also there is less smoke there.

 

Down below 1 deck is the Specialty cake shop, you can order a Banana Split, take it upstairs and listen to the piano.

I'm sure as hell glad I'm not new here and trying to get a little information.

 

Lighten up people.

 

To the OP.........

Most of the piano bars are rather subdued for the first 1/2 hour to hour. I have been in the piano bar early (9:30 - 10) and many times someone will bring in an adolescent for a song or two just to see what it's like. You know, some young people are actually listening to the same songs we did.:)

I once saw a couple bring in their daughters, ages 17 and 10. The piano player asked the youngest if she had a request and she said she did. He not only played it for her, but asked her to come up and sing it with him. Actually, she was quite good. They left soon after.

 

That being said, I've never seen anyone under the age of about 17 - 18 in there after things get rolling except for the occasional teen checking in with mom or dad. Each bar is different, so you will need to use good judgement as a responsible parent as to whether it is appropriate or not.

I think another place people here forgot to mention is the DISCO! I know for a fact that they card at the door sometimes and anyone that looks young gets stopped. I know from past experience, I got carded and did not have my ID on me and he told me to come in I needed to show it! So I had to go all the way back to my room for it! I was not a happy camper!

 

But to me and others whom choose to cruise sometimes without their kids, please don't drag children into smoke filled bars where they don't belong. You can't do it at home so why ruin someone elses evening and annoy others around you by bringing yours in?? It makes no sense to me. It is called a bar bc it is for adults not children. That is why cruiselines build big, beautiful facilities to entertain kids in while parents are at the bars. Yes, your kids are so well behaved and all but if I left mine, I sure don't want to sit in the piano bar sipping my martini and have put up with someone elses kids.

 

That is all, I just don't understand the reasoning behind it. This is my opinion and I sure there will be others who disagree. The same others that bring the kids into the adults comedy show?? I never understood this one either. But thank God, we live in America so we can voice these opinions or we would all be in trouble. LOL

Children are also not allowed to SIT at any of the bars (in theory). They can order a soda with their fountain card at any bar but most of the bartenders will not let them sit at the bar and drink their soda.

 

No offense, but I don't think this is true. I have twin sons and we always get them soda cards when we cruise. On our first cruise, one of my DS was nicknamed "Shirley" due to the number of Shirley Temples he ordered. Anytime he walked by any of the bars, you would hear, "Hey Shirley!" Both boys sat at many of the bars drinking their sodas w/o being told to leave. We even have a picture of one DS at the bar. (He was 11 at the time.) One time, my DH and I were playing video poker and these machines are very close to the bar. One of my DS came to the bar, sat down and ordered his soda. The bartender told him he could stay at the bar, but had to move to the other side (more in the Promenade area.)

Probably a dumb question, but what does wsod mean?

 

We take our kids to a pub that serves food and has a dart board. Our kids are teenagers; don't know if that makes a difference. DD sometimes participates in kareoke. I don't see what the big deal is taking them to the piano bar. Some of you mention the "adult" themes. Have you been in high school lately? Believe me, there's nothing that goes on in the piano bar that would shock high school kids. JMHO

well, what it comes down to is - You know your kids - and you know what makes you comfortable with your kids. If you feel comfortable bringing your kids into an adult only area - than by all means, do it. Where my gripe comes in is if I am somehow supposed to temper my behavior just because there is a youngin there. Not that I necessarily go "hog wild", but I have been known to sing a raunchy song or two. As long as you are comfortable with your kid hearing it, then I'm alright with singing it.
