Cruising weather in June

Will be cruising Alaska in early June. Will mosquitos be a problem?

How is the weather usually like at this time of the year. Seeing that its snow quite late this year, does that mean its going to be much colder?

All I can tell you is that they weren't a problem in June '02. :D

Like almost every place else today, Alaska can be very unpredictable, and can change dramatically in a single day. Bring a little bit of everything for clothes, which you can pile on in layers if necessary. :)

Are you going to the Alaska mainland? I was only in the Juneau/Sitka area the 3rd week in May and it felt like Seattle in December. It was way too cold for me AND the mosquitos. In case your wondering what Seattle is like in May, rent the movie The Ring.

We last sailed in Alaska in 3 years ago in June. It was in the 90's.

I think you need to be prepared for anything and it you shall have.

No one mentioned anything about mosquitos... but in travel guides they talked about it alot. Do i have to be prepared?

According to articles that I have read on line the mosquitto problem is not bad until later in the summer. They do advise that if you are planning extensive hiking or taking inland trips to be prepared. My preparation for our cruise in June to Alaska is to bring a small pocket size bottle of insect repellant just in case. The ole "BSA" motto "BE PREPARED"
