Volendam Gym

I would really appreciate some info on what the Volendam gym has to offer - what type of equipment, size of the gym area, best time of day to go, etc.? Any infor will be helpful.

The Volendam has a completely outfitted gym. We were on her a few weeks after her SOE upgrades and the gym was one of the area that got a complete makeover. I can't remember the exact equipment other than to say they had just about everything and it was right up there with what you might expect from a land based gym, just a bit smaller of course. Best time? Well, sea days I'd say early afternoon. Port days it's pretty quite, especially if it's one of the better ports in terms of excursions.

There are 7 treadmills - equiped with TV's. There are a couple of bikes, weights, stair climers, etc. The gym is smaller since her SOE because of the new thermo spa. But is modern.

DH always went at 6 AM when it opened -- very busy then.

I was on the Volendam Dec 06. It is a fully-equipped gym as others have stated. I found the gym deserted in the late afternoon and evening.

We used Volendam's gym quite a lot in October 2005 (befoere SOE) and again in January 2006 (after her SOE). The treadmills are wonderful, each with its own flat screen TV. Recumbent bikes, stairsteppers, weights, spinners........classes available.

 

We think the gyms on HAL ships are wonderful.
