Coastalbreezes Posted February 21, 2007 #26 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Thanks for the continued updates, Shoreguy -- always so interesting, informative, and funny, too. Enjoy the rest of your trip! Juried, I LOVED the Jewel last year. Went with my Mom and kids. Mom is a lifetime HAL cruiser, but really enjoyed the less formal, freestyle NCL for a change. Have a wonderful time. Judy, I am also on the Dawn April 1st and can't wait; I really need a vacation. Am traveling with my one of my best friends who has never cruised before, so we should have a blast! TracyE

smeyer418 Posted February 21, 2007 #28 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Entertainment like food is subjective – Dan Hodge Cabaret in the Stardust to night. Some folks seemed to enjoy it they even clapped. My son and I wanted to jump off the balcony and kill ourselves. A little bad Tom Jones, a little bad Neil Diamond, a Jerry Lee Lewis segment, a little I love my dad…………..you decide And he will tell the same jokes every night and play the pretty same repertoire. I put it in my comment card I thought he was so lame.

Rare Smellytoes Posted February 21, 2007 #30 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Shoreguy, did you happen to notice if there is a piano player named Marcus Dagan on the ship?? If so could you find out if he will still be on the ship 4/12?? According to his website he's on the Dawn from 2/18 until 4/10. That doesn't sound right to me unless he plans to swim home from the 4/1 cruise.
Welove2cruise2 Posted February 21, 2007 #31 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Just curious -- it's noontime, and it looks like the Dawn is still at sea -- what time were they supposed to get in to San Juan?

LadyBerard Posted February 21, 2007 #34 Share Posted February 21, 2007 No Grenada?? I'm bummin'. (I'm going on this cruise 4/1.....and was looking forward to that delicious rum punch on the Rhum Runner party boat!!). Oh well, things happen. It'll still be a fabulous cruise I'm sure. I'll have to make up for it on the Pirate Ship party boat in Barbados.

This is an updated itinerary due to the slower times caused by the azipod problem. This itinerary was issued a few days or so prior to the present cruise on the Dawn. tinkerbell1951 Posted February 21, 2007 #36 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Tim Triplet did an adult hypnosis show in Spinnakers at 10:45. He is a strange guy but the show certainly had its moments. One poor woman will spend the rest of her cruise living down her performance. Hey sweetie ... good to hear from you !! I had my moments with Tim and thankfully it didn't air on everyone's TV 24/7 for the rest of the cruise as did Mr. Wiggly and 36DD. Give my love to all and continue to have a great trip. xox Tink :)
Leafpeeper Posted February 21, 2007 #37 Share Posted February 21, 2007 I finally heard from DD, Christie, from San Juan. She went to see the doctor onboard and was glad she did. She was well enough to buy another purse at the Coach Store in San Juan today. Unfortunately, she left her $25 gift certificate in the cabin. Oh well. I look forward to more posts Shoreguy. shoreguy Posted February 22, 2007 Author #41 Share Posted February 22, 2007 1:15 am 2/22 Ramblings of a shoreguy Headed for Antigua – 6 ships off the port side – one has t o be the Pearl as both ships are in port together in the morning or should I say later this morning. Arrived in San Juan a bit early – off the ship before 2 pm. – did the old San Juan death march. Stopped in to see what was new with the Butterfly People – how about a $9000 montage of dead butterflies. Quick stop in Senior Frogs for “refreshments” Nice photo op of the Voyager of the Seas as she passed El Moro. More pictures of the doors and windows of old San Juan. Casino continues to be very bad to me but not as bad as it was to one guy at my table who went thru 10K in an hour. Hit a little rain on our way to San Juan – amazing how fast the pool area on the Dawn can go from a packed NYC public pool to totally empty. Dinner in Impressions again – prime rib – served rare as requested and for those who asked double cut. Miss the old cheese cart – ordered the cheese plate for dessert – nothing like a soggy bread stick and crispy cheese – first and only disappointment with the food this cruise. Interesting to see four or five studying my plate like a science experiment when I left the restaurant. 50s sock hop tonight – guess what a new twist winner and Elvis on onboard one more time. Dan Hodges was performing in Gatsby’s tonight – much better venue for him. You can leave when you want. Passed by around midnight there were perhaps 25 passengers and 4 were sleeping. Again keep in mind entertainment is subjective but where is Pamela when you need her. Guinness Beer is suddenly missing from all the bar menus – They do have some of the 16 oz draft cans at the casino bar and bottles of export at some of the other bars. I have run into a number of the folks from the roll calls all like me are having a great time, impressed with the improvement in the food quality and selection, but shocked at how invisible the senior staff has become. Claudio as always continues to be everywhere and works like a dog to delight the quests he supports. Time to call it a night – order for the first time room service for breakfast – Eggs Benedict – we will see what happens. ATVs in Antigua tomorrow. palmtre2 Posted February 22, 2007 #43 Share Posted February 22, 2007 Thanks for keeping us informed SG. What a shame about the Guinness, they had better stock up before we board on 4/1. A question still on my husbands mind is - what's on tap at Pearly Kings?????
smeyer418 Posted February 22, 2007 #44 Share Posted February 22, 2007 I agree...Impressions our favorite and we do MISS the old cheese cart! Can you fix that;) the cheese cart is in the Bistro...if you ask nicely for one type of cheese you may just get it from there...after all its as close as the kitchen... I did think Impressions was the BEST place to eat --- we did 7 out of 10 night....now if they would get rid of Dan Hodge at Gatsby's it would make it much nicer. lalapodip Posted February 22, 2007 #49 Share Posted February 22, 2007 I hope that you're *not* reading our replies, Jim, but I know that someone from our 3/11 roll call is also curious as to the beers on tap at the Pearly King, if you know the answer! :) After two cruises on the Spirit, I am not familiar with the cheese cart, so we'll definitely have to look for this!
