Celebrity Secrets they usually don't tell you about

Hi!

I'm booked on my first cruise next year on the Millenium and I was wondering what services they have for photo processing. I want to bring my digital camera but don't want to bring a lot of memory cards. Can I burn photo discs on board? How much does it cost & can I save by bringing my own discs? Any info or tips on this subject would be really appreciated.

By the way, LOVE this board. All the tips have been really great.

Thanks!:D

Yes, you can burn the disks in the computer lab. First, you download from your camera card to their computer. Then a CD is made from there. It is $15 per disk whether you supply the disk or not.

With the price of camera memory now, I prefer to have the extra memory to use anytime I choose rather than having to download a full memory card to be able to use the camera.

Bring the extra memory, even if you decide to make a CD you won't be sorry.

Hi Daphna,

We paid $89.00 each plus 10% tip for the Persian Gardens for 10 days.I haven't figured out why the tip or who gets it next time I'll ask up front about it.

joanna Californiadreamin is right. You can burn cds but the lab where you can do it has funny hours. They have a lot of classes so to do your own photos you have to work around that.I took a free class on photos which was very good the instrutors were great. If your on a 7 day cruise you may have a little trouble getting in for the open time.I take 2 cards and extra batteries because I just do.I had 2 512 cards took 385 pictures at 4 mp and didn't fill 1 card.I hope this is helpful.

Joanna, it's like Tom says -- getting into the lab can be tricky. My DH takes two batteries, a recharger and a portable disk burner along with his digital camera. The disk burner worked like a charm from the Mediterranean & WB Transatlantic, thru Hawaii, thru the Caribbean & thru an EB Transatlantic. He took between 500 and 700 photos per tour in the Mediterranean. He averahged 550 photos daily for the other itineraries - lots and lots of sunsets. It doesn't take very long to burn the disk. It takes about three hours to recharge each battery.

You have lots of options and the Computer staff are very friendly and eager to help -- you just have to plan your time to get to them.

Thanks Tom,

I am so looking forward to enjoying the peacefull perisian spa showers. About 3 yrs ago, we were on an Alaskan Princess trip and enjoyed the heated loungers. You said there werent any. Only the heated seat (sit up). We will be in the Baltics on a very port intensive itinerary, it looks like the perfect way to end the day. Wonder what time they shut down?

Hugs

Daphna

When my husband and I were in the Persian Garden last year on Millennium, a spa staff member escorted three women out for not paying. The staff member was polite but quite firm with them, not believing their response that they came in the back door and didn't know they had to pay. I think there may be a small sign on the back door that indicates the area is restricted.

Plus, we aren't supposed to be saying how to get freebies illegally like the Persian garden.

We were on the Millenium last year and downloaded our digital pix into the computer. At the end of the cruise we bought a CD for 15 bucks with our 100's of pix on it and all nice and organized already. The pix could also have been uploaded to a Celebrity site where we could access them from home.

I found on the Millie that the internet cafe was open almost all the time and we could get our CD and download our pix from there. The gentleman helped us out a lot and made sure we didn't accidently go to the internet.
I'm sorry to be such a stick-in-the-mud, but isn't this thread supposed to be about Celebrity Secrets? Has the well run dry on those?
These are free for the asking. Request from Special Services prior to cruise. You don't have to be in a handicapped room to get them.

There is a better place! Look at the Roll Call section of the Cruise Critic site for finding people on your cruise - like here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=274522&page=2

one night on the Summit, they served escargots as appetizers and my son loved it. From then on, he had 2 plates of escargots served every night as an appetizer. He just asked our waiter and he made it happen.

Well, almost. You can request a shrimp cocktail every night for your appetizer if you don't like to experiment, which I think is half the fun of the food experience on cruises. Or, you may opt for a Ceasar Salad every night. Or, maybe a bowl of fresh berries every morning for breakfast. The waiters, even at open seating meals do all they can to make you happy, all you have to do is smile, ask nicely and say thank you and your wish is their command!:D:D

Room service doesn't cost extra, but tips for the person who delivers it are not included (it might be your room steward). On our last cruise, the room steward wouldn't accept a tip so we made it up to him at the end of the cruise.

[B]Can I bring my laptop with a wireless card aboard ship and have access to the Internet without paying the high prices? Although we are awaiting our first X cruise, I was told that I would find celebrity to work the way our recent RCI cruise worked: Our wireless worked in "hot spots" in various public locations on board. We did not need the kit, but did have to pay for all minutes used. We found the connection to be VERY slow, and our package of minutes was used very quickly. All in all rather frustrating, at some point we switch to the ship's computer's, slightly faster than wireless, and did only what we absolutely had to.

We've done both and you definitely have to pay for the minutes. We always purchase a rather large package since we need to check email for our business.

It's slow, yes, but better than a phone call. We only do the necessary.
