Worst cabin on the ship????

I just got my cabin assignment on Summit and we are in 2140 (bottom floor, inside) below the grand foyer. We could only afford an inside and did the GTY thing and now regretting it, it looks like the worse cabin on the boat!!! I'm worried it will be incredibly loud at that location. The only thing is that it is close to the elevators and accessible but it looks like I've got the worst cabin on the ship, and now very depressed. Anyone can let me know?

I don't think that will be bad. At least you are not underneath a bar or nightclub etc. The foyer area is relatively tame.

Actually, you are below the shore excursion desk which should not be of any noise concern. That cabin is as close to midship and as close to the waterline as you can get. It is in the area of least motion on the entire ship.

At 170 sq.ft., it is the same size as all inside, oceanview and even veranda cabins below Concierge Class.

We were in 2061 on Summit for a recent Alaska cruise - had to book at the last minute because our Infinity cruise was cancelled so we got what was left. Got demoted from a veranda cabin on the Penthouse deck. We had no complaints whatsoever. Granted, 2061 is an outside cabin, but the same size as the inside cabins. You won't be disappointed. The cabins are spacious and the showers are amazingly big. Go and enjoy!

doesn't sound bad to me - and believe me we've had the worst cabins. Once we were next to where the housekeeping crew "staged" everything. Sounded like bowling balls rolling all night long! And, we were under the casino - I think they broke it down each night but they didn't start until after 1am.

 

another time we had an outside cabin on the Royal Princess. every night we heard this banging outside. After 3 continuous nights, and continuous complaints I went out to the promenade and found THE PAINTERS POLE banging against the window! DH wanted to throw it overboard at 130 in the morning. Well the next morning they moved us to a lesser cabin (partial obstruction - forward) that was actually BETTER than the one we had (and cheaper). Learned that another couple vacated that cabin b'c of flooding in the bathroom (we had no problem with it).

 

another time we were close to midship - which meant close to the atrium even though we were ~deck 7 or 8. we heard the lounge music until the wee hours of the morning.

 

by the end of that cruise, I was exhausted as I'm a light sleeper.

I would be happy to be assigned the worst cabin on any cruise ship, If it ment that I could get away from the cold weather, stressors of life and a hectic job for a week! You don't spend a lot of time in your room anyway!

Not bad for a guarantee. We had a bow cabin down there one cruise and the anchor dropping at tendered ports started at 5 A.M. Of course that was after the thrusters had their say!:rolleyes:

When you book a guarantee, you have to be prepared to take the worst cabin in that category and above. Study the deck plans carefully. There are a lot of cabins you could end up with when you choose an inside guarantee.

 

A lot of folks have reported being disappointed that even though their cabin category was upgraded, they ended up being somewhere they did not want to be.

 

We had a guarantee on our last cruise and ended up near the bow of the ship. It had a lot of motion compared to cabins midship, but fortunately that doesn't bother me. I'm sure that some of our seasick neighbors would have gladly traded their cabins for ones closer to midship like yours.

We were in 2125 on the infinity and it was great. true, it was outside, but the location was near the elevators midship, easy walk upstairs, and the motion was great. we liked it so much we booked the same one on our next connie trip.

Do not feel bad. If you check out the layout for inside cabins on the Summit you will find there really isn't a better choice.

Thanks a lot for everyone's input, I do feel better about having that cabin now. I posted another thread asking about possible upgrades while onboard but I personally don't think it would be worth the extra $$$ even though it would be nice to have a balcony! :p
