LazyEngineer Posted March 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2007 I'm going to be on the Celebrity Century for the first week of March Madness. Any idea whether I'll be able to watch my Texas Longhorns aboard the ship? What about in the stateroom?
Rare Lois R Posted March 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Hi, I seriously doubt the first round will be televised anywhere on the ship. I could be wrong of course, but I would be very surprised if you had access to it....remember even at home the first rounds are in different regions so not every part of the country sees each game...so I must say I don't think the ship will have access to the games. The only "major sports" I have seen are the NFL Playoffs. (and those are nationally televised...not regionally).
kitty9 Posted March 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2007 We were on last year during March and didn't see any NCAA games on board.
RB Bonzo Posted March 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2007 I was disappointed to experience the same thing on a Connie cruise a few years back.
LazyEngineer Posted March 3, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted March 3, 2007 This really blows. Out of the nearly 2,000 people on board, I can't believe there wouldn't be enough interested in the tournament to show the games. It is one of the most watched events in the US. raudacruise Posted March 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2007 http://www.ncaasports.com/mmod (march madness on demand) will be streaming the first 3 rounds for free. It is capacity driven so there is a waitlist. There was a signup a while back to "cut the line". This means you MAY be able to watch on an internet station. That would cost $100 under the new internet package Celebrity is using. Hopefully they will have at least the championship game and maybe the final four. Basketball is much more international than american football.
Rare Lois R Posted March 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2007 Hi George and Marybeth:) Those were my thoughts too....I was thinking the Final 4 might be televised on the ship but I would be surprised if the 1st round games would be shown. Lazy Engineer, check with Guest Services after you board the ship.
