Next Week: A Virtual Cruise Aboard Insignia!

Recommended Posts

Get ready for a virtual! Beginning Tuesday, June 15 (provided the onboard Internet is agreeable), Cruise Critic will be launching a nine night virtual cruise onboard Oceania’s Insignia. The trip, a British Isles voyage, departs Dover on Monday, June 14, and calls at ports such as Edinburgh, Peterhead, Invergorden (for Inverness), Lerwick, one of the Shetland Islands, Kirkwall, part of the Orkney Islands, and Dublin.

The virtual will appear daily, on week days (through Friday, May 25) and we’ll be writing about our experience onboard as well as in port.

We hope you’ll check us out and feel free to submit any questions, whether about the ship or about its itinerary, as we go along. Please submit them to this thread -- we'll monitor it daily -- and we'll do our best to provide near-instant answers!

Look forward to sharing this cruise with you.

Can't wait to hear all about it! Sharon met you years ago when a CC group went on the Grand Princess (with Gloria), I think it was one of the first CC cruises! Anyhow, we are booked on the 10/24 sailing. Very excited about trying Oceania.

Just read your well written embarkation review. I am surprised that your request for a table for two in the Polo was not honored considering there were tables for two empty and available. Sounds like they were trying to consolidate for the wait staff. Did they give you an explanation? Looking forward to reading your daily reviews..how is the service in the main dining room?

Hi,

What a great idea to provide a virtual Insignia cruise--it builds anticipation for our July 10th departure. Thank you for the first excellent installment, and we look forward to hearing more.

Since you are taking questions, would you mind checking out the TV offerings for us? What channels are available? What movies are showing now? Are the movies free or standard pay-per-view as in hotels or both?

[Other recent or current cruisers are welcome to respond too.]

We do know we can watch TV at home, and we do plan to enjoy the ports and the ship to the fullest extent, but in the nearly two weeks we'll be aboard we want to keep up with the news and to relax with some films we might not have time to watch back in the states.

Thank you!
"Emma"
