D1, D2, and D3 distinction?

Just curious, is there any difference between D1, D2, and D3 balcony rooms on the Voyager Class ships. In the write-up on RC's website, they appear to be exactly the same, so I am wondering what the purpose is in having different category numbers?

Location.

Midships more expensive and then prices lower the further forward or stern you go etc etc.

Location true, but not necessarily midship, aft, bow etc. Some of the best hump cabins are E2's not E1's so it does not matter sometimes.
