Pearl 9 Night Review - Courtyard Villa

Marcus: stop trying to upset people. You are really succeeding in getting them all worked up. Why can't you let them know what a wonderful person you are? Diane

Ahhh - that's ok - we know he's just trying to get us going. Plus - I'm a balcony girl...I wouldn't think of arguing with a Penthouse / Villa guy. ;)

They would cancel some common people from downstairs, so you would get your seats (have done that many times and love it)!!!

Hmmmmm.... So I suppose if I'm in the Garden Villa, I could boot someone like you out? Might be worth the price if that's one of the perks.:D

There is no doubt that NCL is sailing two class ships. Once the concierge and butlers were brought aboard it was in place for AA-A? depending on ship. The Courtyard on the three newest ships has just made it more obvious. I seriously doubt they would turn away a passenger with reservations to one of the specialty restaurants because of a last minute suite guest. I believe they hold space for that exact reason.

I don't agree that having two levels of service is going to ruin NCL. I think it actually brings in passengers that would have normally sailed with a more upscale line.

It is simply a matter of you get what you pay for.

I agree - I'm sure exactly how they plan it out, but when we had access to a concierge, he was able to get us reservations in a specialty restaurant after we were told they were full by the reservation desk. They must "hold" some space for just that reason.

So true, and not at all any different than anything else. Hotels and resorts have basic rooms, suites, penthouses, etc. Airlines have coach and first class. Even non travel related things in life such as condo's. Want a simple place to live or want a condo in a secure building with a doorman? We're all given choices for our wants and needs and NCL is no different than anything else.

They are creating a line to appeal to not only the masses who simply want a cheap room/cheap getaway cruise, they want to appeal to the broader market by offering something more and creating a variety of choices.

The reserved seats are on the balcony level on the left as you are walking into the theater all the way towards the front. The Concierge should be waiting by the left entrance to the theater every evening and will show you to your seats. You are your mom will love the courtyard, its a great setup. It's so nice not to have to walk more than a few steps to get to the courtyard and its always peaceful unlike the main pool deck.

My wife and I are doing the Los Angeles to Miami Panama Canal cruise on the Pearl at the end of this month.

My wife uses a wheel chair (I'm the pusher). Are the suite-reserved seats in the theatre accessible with a wheel chair?

We had stairs, one flight going up, one flight going down and another flight going up and the steps to go down to the seats. But there are spaces for wheelchair users with seats for one member of the family, at the entrance on deck 7, port side. :)

Dick...Sorry NO! But right there, before you go up the stairs for the reserved Suite Seats, are the WC Seats...just tell Karen to close down that area for you!

IMO 4 on the A3 MIGHT be doable if everyone stands. Our cabin stewards lowered down from Deck 15 one of the full-size lounges for my husband to relax on (the removed one of the chairs/ottomans) and with the other chair/ottoman and VERY SMALL table the fit was incredibly tight. Didn't matter to us though cause DH could still sleep on the balcony if he wanted.

We spent the bulk of our "awake" time in the courtyard - incredibly beautiful, relaxing, everything you could want was there (or available). Small pool (could be set to resistance), hot tub, steam showers, fabulous chairs, ottomans, cabana "beds" that handled 2 comfortably, food, etc.

As you can tell - for us the A3 was the most incredible experience and we will cruise A3 again (soon I hope:D ).

Do you think the A3 Villa would be tight for two adults and two teenagers? Originally I wanted to book it, but ended up booking an AA and an inside for the kids. Was the balcony large enough for 4 to sit outside?

Thanks for your input.

We had 4 adults in an A3 for the Panama last April. We thought it was tight but doable. We had them bring 2 more chairs for the balcony and found our little places to sit and watch with no problems.

One thing you might consider with the A3 over the Owner's Suite option is the use of the Courtyard Area. This magnificent place is for the use of those booked in an AA & A1-A3 Courtyard Villas and the Garden Villas. If you have an Owner's Suite AA, you will only have use of the courtyard for the two adults and not the teenagers because they are in the inside cabins.

I have not been in an A3 on the Jewel. I found that the extra bed was ok for one person and then there is the pullman or pull down wall bed for another teen.

I am booking a cruise for myself and my adult daughters and we plan on staying in an A3.

Once in an Courtyard suite = spoiled from booking any lessor cabin for life.

You are not telling me that these people cannot take their children with them to the courtyard are you. That seems very insensitive to families!

The children will be welcomed as long as they are with the parents that are on the AA. Also the Courtyard is for A4, A3, A2, AA and the Garden Villa, though the GArden Villas very seldom used them. They have the great area outdoors for their own private use.

The bed in the second bedroom makes into a full/queen size bed. The 2 adults with us slept fine on the second bedroom bed.

Appreciate all the info...I think the AA and inside will be a better fit for us. It will give us the extra room and large front balcony where the four of us can hang out together, as well as allow dh and me to use the courtyard area. As for my two teenage boys...I think they might find it a little boring up there as it sounds more like an "adults" place. A3 probably would be fine for a couple with a small child, but for the 4 of us it sounds like it would be too tight.

Thanks!

I will be taking two 14 year old teens with me. They will use the Courtyard Villa. I think they are responsible enough to use it on their own. Any children younger than 12, I would think parents would be along with them for safety reasons.

That's exactly what they do. No one gets removed from the list. Oh and by the way I agree with him no matter how tongue in cheek he is being. Call me rude but the fact I get escorted past all the rest getting on and off tenders and disembarking and arriving is a blast! The look on the faces of others is priceless.

something like this  :(

Hate me all you want.lol

Oh yes, I also love the VIP first class air line for security. Really burns you up right?? It's wundermuss.

Seeing people in the VIP first class line for security does not burn me up at all. I know that. . .

a) the plane ain't going anywhere until all of the pions go through security and reach the gates

b) it really isn't "VIP" <snicker> it just means either you have lots of cash to throw around, or, you travel for business, and on the business' dime you earned lots of frequent flier miles for upgrade

Maybe you wish people were jealous, but really, there is no reason to be jealous of people who think they are special. . .but really are not.:D
