catmand Posted April 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2007 Hi all, We are trying to decide between Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip which is rafting or the Taku Glacier Jet Boat excursion. Both are through Celebrity, cost isn't an issue. We have been to Mendenhall on our own two years ago. I guess we are looking for the most scenic if anyone can help, thanks

Budget Queen Posted April 8, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2007 I think the jet boat is new this season?? I am one who never recommends the Mendenhall float trip, trees and back yards is the most scenery. Money is better spent elsewhere in my opinion. catmand Posted April 8, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted April 8, 2007 Thanks so much. I thought maybe you actually went very, very close to the glacier which would be great but backyards we can live without (enough of those here). We did a Jet Boat out of Skagway two years ago, very nice. This year the $$ went up, wayyyyy up. Again, thanks for your response.
Crazy Coug Posted April 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2007 My wife and I are going on our first Alaskan cruise in mid-May and from everything I've read on these boards, don't do the Mendenhall Float trip. I pulled up a Google map to see where the river flows and it pretty much flows right through town. Somehow I don't think viewing Juneau from the river is the most scenic excursion you could do. We definitely found better.
