cruisenk Posted April 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2007 I have smuggled on exactly - zilch . . . zero . . . nada . . . nothing. Why take the chance and have to lug around all those heavy bottles? The ship has everything I need. Have fun listening to all the replies!
jdjaguar Posted April 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Well, I have never smuggled anything. What I have done is place 2 750 ML Plastic Bottle Captain Morgan in separate checked suitcases. Toted luggage cooler w/ wifes wine, 12 pak coke/12 pak diet coke.
BrendaB1 Posted April 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Here we go again. Please pay no attention to the rules & take whatever you feel comfortable with possibly losing. If you get somebody in a really bad mood that day you ....maybe they will refuse to let you board. :)

nma1227 Posted April 12, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2007 I have done the smuggling thing a couple times now. My friends and I put Vodka into large water bottles (you could do the same w/ rum). We wrapped those in a couple layers of plastic bags and put them in with our big suitcases that were transported by the crew to our cabin. It worked out very well! Since we were worried about mixers, we just brought crystal light powdered mix. If you are going to bring wine, I would also make sure it's very insulated and wrapped up so it wont leak if it breaks (which hasn't happened to me yet!). But dont bring it on your carry on, because they might search your bag.
gulfwench Posted April 12, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2007 We always carry on a couple of bottles of wine b/c we celebrate our anniversary while on board. This is allowed. Last year when we were on the Destiny out of Puerto Rico there is a liquor store right at the port. We bought wine, rum and scotch and carried it all on board. No one said anything.

Glama Posted April 12, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2007 I am SO not answering this question, for fear of getting flamed. We've never brought water or soda, but have brought a few other things. ;) I know people who have brought bottles of liquor (not in mouthwash containers), cases of beer, etc... Bring what you want, just be prepared to part with it if they decide to enforce their new rule.
direfun2000 Posted April 12, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 12, 2007 I didn't smuggle it I just put it in my small rolling suitcase and wheeled her onboard.... 6 bottles of wine 1 liter each of Rum, Vodka and Appletini. 12pk beer 12pk Diet coke LOVED having my cocktails on my balcony. Enjoy.:D
direfun2000 Posted April 12, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 12, 2007 You are allowed to bring wine on board. But only one bottle per person the way I read it.:( We enjoy a bottle each evening with our dinner.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 12, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Back in the days before the casino covered all our drinks... the record is THREE FULL cases of 16 OZ. Miller Lite. We had 3 small suitcases which each perfectly held one case. We did that a couple of times - never a problem. Tom
cruisebie Posted April 12, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 12, 2007 2 People-What's the most you've smuggled on? Ohhhhhhh, you mean beverages. I thought this was going to be a thread about smuggling human cargo!!! :D I was going to volunteer to be a "test subject".
AdmiralQ Posted April 12, 2007 #14 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Our last cruise in January on the Triumph, we got 17, yes 17, 20 ounce water bottles of vodka, rum, gin, and banana liquor on. We had 18 bottles in one of our carryons, basically just an empty suitcase filled with bottles. One of our companions took one of them out and carryed it as we walked through the x-ray machines in Miami. One of the carnival security women took a good hard look at the bottle in his hand, then had him open it up and smelled it. Of course she took it and put it on top of the x-ray machine instead of throwing it in the garbage right in front of her (i'm sure she was saving it for later :)), and made a big deal about "you can't get anything by carnival security" (her words). What she didn't realize is that while her and her fellow security officers were making a bid deal of their big catch, the remaining 17 bottles were going through the x-ray machine unnoticed, since they were all focused on the one in plain view. I will be the first to admit that we went waaaaaaaay overboard in the amount of stuff we smuggled on, we ended up dumping alot of it at the end of the week. Plus the 4 of us had around $1000 each on our S&S cards, so we could have saved a lot of money if we would have used the stuff we brought on, but it's such a pain to go to the room when there's a perfectly good bar right on the Lido deck, or wherever. Next cruise in May, we'll probably take a water bottle or two of something on, just to make a drink in the cabin when we don't feel like finding a bar. MaryZ Posted April 12, 2007 #15 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Worse case, they take your booze, but they will not deny you boarding if you're caught. the trick is to make sure you are last boarding, and wait till the very last second to give your bags to the porter. See, by that time they are already sooo wasted from drinking everyone else's liquor that they confiscated they will be too blasted to remember to take yours:eek: :D :p
southbayer Posted April 13, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 13, 2007 You forgot the three kegs! LOL Of course you can't take all that on silly! henepup Posted April 13, 2007 #17 Share Posted April 13, 2007 The most we have taken is: 14 bottles of 12 oz waters 12 pack of Mt. Dew 12 pack of Dr. Pepper 1 bottle of Capt. Morgan (travel size it's plastic) 1 bottle of vodka (travel size) 1 5th of Jager 1 5th of Woodford Reserve 12 can of Red Bull 1 5th of Peach Schnapps 24 pack of Coke That was for 5 people on a 7 day cruise. Glama Posted April 13, 2007 #20 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Or their OLD rule either, since there's nothing NEW about liquor. Maybe better wording would have been "be prepared to part with it if they start digging through checked bags due to the new tighter rules regarding soda and water". 773 Miles Away Posted April 13, 2007 #22 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Just a thought, but you could probably put your clothes in the empty space where your liver used to be. I was going to say your ethics, but you've probably never had any of those. Bah... that's HARDLY enough alcohol to result in any significant liver damage... especially since we have no idea how many people he is sharing with. I have a feeling that the people travelling with him decided to make him the helpless victim should his trickery not fool the elite carnival security... :D Why, dear Parrot?? Did you have a bad experience once? Do tell! hehehehe :D
773 Miles Away Posted April 13, 2007 #23 Share Posted April 13, 2007 As for me, I've never gone too far.. I stuffed 3 bottles of Merlot in my checked luggage. Let me tell you... now with the liquids restrictions.. and a long flight from Boston to Miami... that makes for one VERY nervous traveller. So far so good though. Though I did use my boyfriend's nice pants as a means to protect one of the bottles of wine... had there been a problem... i'm sure he wouldn't have appreciated that one. lol
PelicanBill Posted April 13, 2007 #24 Share Posted April 13, 2007 A 750ml rum in plastic bottle, and a 750ml mudslide mix in a plastic bottle, and 2 bottles of wine (in carryon). Even on a 9 day cruise we don't typically finish them. We buy 1 or 2 drinks a day and make 1 or 2 on our own.
turtle7178 Posted April 13, 2007 Author #25 Share Posted April 13, 2007 A) no flying is involved B) My liver is fine thank you! If you & your significant other have never finished a bottle of wine in one day then yippy for you :D C) I don't think that 3 bottles of wine in each suitcase is alot and as for the captain & goose....we'll figure something out! Thanks for your help!:)
