Cigars on Mariner of the Seas ?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there is a designated area on Mariner where you can either purchase or enjoy a good cigar?... I may bring a few Cubans on board from port to enjoy before we return.

Celebrity USED to have Michael's Club, but thats now non-smoking.

The Mariner has the Conoisseur Club which is right outside the Lotus Lounge on deck 5. You can buy cigars there and smoke them. Very nice...my husband spent many a night there while I was in the casino :D

Just noticed you were on the Mariner a few weeks ago. Was that the Eastern or Western Itenerary? We are trying to find recent Compasses for the Eastern.

Stony;

You can get cigars there, (Conoisseur Club) but they won't have Cubans.

Do you know where you can get a real cuban at any of the ports on the Mariner's western itenerary? You'd think that since they are legal there they wouldn't be selling knock offs, but that lust for more profit! I bought a couple of cubans at a nice cigar shop in Grand Cayman a couple years back, turned out to be super cheap un-smokable knock offs.

There are reputable dealers in most ports. Google it. If in doubt the staff onboard know where to get them. Like anything else, if the "deal" seems to good to be true, it probably is :). Just curious, why would you think there wouldn't be counterfeit Cuban cigars because they are a legal product? You can't go anywhere in the world where knock offs of high value brand names aren't available, doesn't matter what the item is. :D

They were $16/each, not a too good to be true deal. I'll do some research ahead of time.

There are recent eastern compasses on www.cruisedailies.com courtesy of dagadget. He wrote up a good review too.

Dhaden- we were on the western itinerary. I have the compasses with me, but I dont have any scanned. If you have any questions that you would like me to look up on the compass', just let me know.

For the others who asked about cubans, my husband bought a box in Ocho Rios. I cant remember the name of the store, but I think most were comporable in price. It was $175 for a box of 24 ($183.75 if you use a credit card) . They just took off the wrappers for us and repackaged them.

P.S. These cigars were definitely real as my husband is a pretty good cigar afficianado and can tell real from fake. I think it equated to about $7 and change a peice when you buy by the box. Singles are of course much more expensive.

Here is a really good site on checking the "bands" and "seals". I understand Cohiba, my favorites, just changed their seals a yr or so ago to fight the counterfiets. I printed the pictures of these seals and took them shopping with me.

As "Addicted" said, Ocho Rios, being the first stop. has cigar shops. You will probably pay more there, so just get a few.

I have found that Cozumel is the best place to get "Bargain prices". I didn't find that in Ocho Rios.

There was a place down one of the alleys that sold Genuine Cubans. The starting price was $18 each - got him down to $12 really quick and then $8 each if I bought 25 of them. (and yes, I did check the seals :) )

Hope This Helps.

Thanks for the offer. Donna and I are most interested in the evening "Dancing Options." We love ballroom/latin dancing.
