Do you girls usually get a new outfit for embarkation day?

Hi:) yes, I would say overall the first and last night's dress are more casual. Your outfit sounds lovely for sailing day.

We are all different.......but this is just me, I try to look nice for embarkation but I don't "dress up"....nice shorts and my new top...but...I always shower before dinner...even on the first night.

I pack my first evenings outfit in my carry on and as soon as I board I go to the cabin and quickly unpack LOL ....don't want to intrude if the stewards are still cleaning! Oh, my luggage has always arrived before dinner.

Its just after being in the same outfit all day long, I just always shower and change before dinner. I see you are sailing this weekend......have a WONDERFUL TIME:D

I'm with everyone else when it comes to those shipboard pics. When DH and I are dressed, we can just ask someone to take our pic with our own digital camera for free. Besides, I hate having my picture taken. I feel that I never looked as good as I thought I did - LOL :D

We're not huge picture takers, but, if DH shows me how, I'd certainly get a kick out of posting some pics on these boards after our "maiden voyage" :). I sincerely doubt we will buy any of the cruise photos. I'd rather spend the $ for the supper club. We don't gamble, either - well, I may spend $20 on the slots just for the heck of it and then I walk away. The casino atmosphere just doesn't do it for us.

Lois & JanetMarie - the outfit I have for embarkation is Citiknits - bright blue zip jacket, blue, black & white shell and black crops. May or may not wear it. Depends on the weather, as always.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I probably won't this Dec but who knows? I'm a shopoholic anyway and being in the south, I wear "resort casual" most of the time in warm months. My cruise clothes are pretty much my regular stuff- tropical prints, capris, linens, etc. I'm sure I'll wear something more subdued for embarkation in Dec. And I'm always sure I look better than in those photos!

Thanks for the kind wishes Lois! :) ...and you're right I will probably want to freshen up and change before dinner (maybe shower - depends on how the "hair" holds up!)...want to make a great first impression.

I will report back upon my return!

Good Evening Ladies,

Yes, I probably will wear a new outfit for embarkation, I was fortunate enough to find some really good deals at Dillards during their 75% off sale. So I'm bringing a few new outfits along for the cruise. Nothing fancy, white capris, and a cute tropical print with beads/sequins T-shirt.

Froufie - We have sailed on the Island P. and the first night is generally very casual for dinner. We will be sailing on the Dawn P. Dec.3rd and flying in that morning from West Virginia. So I will be leaving about 30 degrees into beautiful sunshine (I Hope). We are planning on leaving our winter coats in the car and just wearing a sweater or spring jacket. Could have snow when we return to the mountains (YUK:( ) Just get me on a ship :D

No I don't usually get a new outfit for embarkation, but thanks so much for the great idea!! I'm sure Chimera, my DH, would want me to express his thanks too. He just loves it when I have another reason to go shopping.

Linda ;)
