Swimming in Key West?

Hello,

I am taking the Rhapsody of the Seas cruise in March that stops in Key West. Does anyone here know if you can basically get off the boat and find a nice beach to swim and relax at? I'm going to stay away from shore excursions for the most part on this cruise--unless necesary to get to a good beach!

I would suggest the beach at Ft. Zachary Taylor...its a short cab ride away and has an entrance fee of 3 bucks or so...
