RetiredRich Posted April 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2007 We are thinking of booking our next cruise on the Carnival Victory. First 4 cruises were with Norwegian and we liked the freestyle thing. My question is will we starve if we don't do the dress up thing on formal nights? We always used the buffet on Norwegian and that was fine for us. So is there any place to eat without going to a special dress up place? We don't dress like slobs but don't like a structured anything on a cruise. So will we starve if we book the Victory?

Quick, easy, short answer to your question: NO, YOU WILL NOT STARVE, ALTERNATIVE DINING OPTIONS ALWAYS AVAILABLE, FORMAL NIGHT OR NOT!

The Captain is correct, our next cruise on the Pride, we have decided to do the same, no formal nights for us:p
lynyrd Posted April 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2007 The Captain is correct, our next cruise on the Pride, we have decided to do the same, no formal nights for us:p We did the same thing on our Fantasy cruise this past January. Actually we did not eat in the dining room at all. It was kind of nice not having to worry about getting ready for dinner. We just grabbed something from the Lido deck when we got hungry. momofzeke Posted April 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2007 If you don't want to dine in the dining room, there are plenty of other options for you. The buffet is available each evening, as well as for breakfast and lunch. There is the 24-hour pizza. The grill by the pool is open until around 6 pm and serves hamburgers and other hot sandwiches. The deli counter is open until around 11 pm. There is 24-hour room service, which does not serve hot food, but has sandwiches, salads, etc. Don't forget the 24-hour soft serve ice cream for snacks in between meals! Plus, some ships have late-night buffets on certain evenings. Bottom line: no, you will NEVER go hungry on a Carnival cruise, even if you never step foot in the dining room. ;)
Lewdog Posted April 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2007 We always do alternative dining on formal nights. The deli on the Victory is FANTASTIC!
zaandam_2 Posted April 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2007 formal is not required. my friend and i were the only ones at a table of 10 dressed formally. the rest were casual. obviously you won't be turned away.
