Sue's Mom Posted August 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2004 This is a resort hotel which I would love to visit on our day in Nassau. I was wondering if it were possible to visit and use the facilities?
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2004 :) If you are longer than half a day there (many HAL cruises don't spend much time on Nassau), then it would be worth it. The only way you can use their facilities is to pay a $25 (?) fee. :)

x lindsay x Posted August 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2004 We were actually thinking of booking a room at Atlantis for the day just to get to use all of the facilities (one of my friends did that on a cruise a year or so ago and had a blast), but when we found out the cheapest room for the day we were there was $270 and that we would only be there a maximum of 7 hours we decided against it. I think you can book Comfort suites, they are cheaper and have all use of Atlantis facilities.
jhannah Posted August 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I'd recommend at least visiting The Dig ... their aquarium. The cost is $25. Steep, but a real interesting presentation of marine life. With your wrist band you also get to stroll the grounds, and that's refreshing.
Golfgrl1911 Posted August 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2004 The Atlantis..........My mother, sister, cousin and I spent an all too short weekend there in April. As soon as we got there we were kicking our selves for not arranging at least another night!! Yes it is a bit pricy but we are all professional women and needed to have a break from our stressful jobs! The digs are absolutly amazing if you get a chance to see them. Some say that it's a bit overrated but when you live in Ohio it's not your average everyday sight! Simply awesome!! We ate mostly at Murray's Deli. And while the food seemed a bit costly (at first glance), the portions were HUGE. If possible, a must see sight are the slides and while I would NEVER participate it was extremely fun to watch others enjoying themselves! It was almost a toss of the coin that decided on whether we would go back to the Atlantis or take the cruise. But never having done a lengthy cruise, I simply could not pass up the opportunity to sail on the Zuiderdam! By the way my winnings in their beautiful casino more than paid for my trip. Guess I just got lucky!! Chef Nancy:)
DonMaryCar Posted August 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2004 It has been a couple years ago and we were on another cruiseline, but usually think most cruise lines offer the same tours, but we paid I think $58 per person and could do anything we wanted at Altantis other than go down the awesome slide. It even included towels and lunch at their outdoor restaurant. We loved their beach and of course we were also impressed with the aquarium. Just wish we could have seen Michael Jackson suite. Definitely the highpoint of our Nassau stop. Have fun:)
Peggy Sue Posted August 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Last December, on Disney Wonder..spent day in Nassau. Rented a room at the Atlantis and had a great time exploring the resort, pools, dig site etc. It was off season, so prices weren't too bad. Try the comfort suite across the street..you get the same wrist band to use all the resort facilities. If you're going to explore on your own..take your own cab, skip the ship tour. Cab drops you off at the door, tour takes you by ferry and then it's a hike to the resort. (I believe the all say be prepared for a lot of walking) Very easy to get a cab back to the ship..and much less expensive than the ship tours. You can visit the dig site (aquarium) for $25. per person..well worth it..quite impressive how they have that laid out. The down town area of Nassau doesn't offer much for us..shopping isn't that great.. We enjoyed our time at the Atlantis, and will go again should a cruise take us to Nassau again. Frankly, given a choice..I'd prefer not to stop in Nassau or Freeport..... Give me another day at sea! Peggy Sue
Sue's Mom Posted August 10, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Thanks to everyone for their most useful input. I will certainly look into renting a room at Comfort Suites. :)
