Lorabelle Posted April 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Do any of the hotels in Vancouver offer either free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, or from the hotel to the cruise ship pier? Better yet, both? We're planning to stay one night pre-cruise and I'm trying to decide whether to use Priceline or book a room myself. If I can find one that offers free shuttle service, then it may be the way to go as there are 4 of us traveling. Also, how far is it from the airport to the downtown area? Does anyone know the cost of a cab/shuttle from the airport? Thanks, Lori
Happy ks Posted April 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2004 I don't think any of the downtown hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport. The cab and limo service is great, I've read, just step outside and there will be a taxi stand. Go to www.yvr.com to find out what the current rates are. rduke Posted April 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2004 the Marriott Pinnacle offers a shuttle service. I believe is $18 pp. Priceline is definately the way to go- 4 star hotels at the price you would pay for a 1 or 2 star hotel on your own. Rondo Posted April 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2004 You might be interested in the Days Inn. Budget Queen Posted April 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2004 None of the Downtown hotels that I know of offer free airport shuttles. Allow $25+++ca for a cab. Credit card payments give the best exchange if you don't have Ca money. Allow 45 min. for a cushion- it is mostly slow stop and go city driving. Some hotels do shuttle to the ports. The Days Inn is a very basic hotel- no air conditioning- unless they have upgraded. The location is excellent. But the way to go in Vancouver is priceline- the deals are excellent. RET_REF Posted April 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Yes BQ, Priceline is the way to go in Vancouver if they can get a hotel to accept your bid. I've been bidding up to $65 for our 5/21 stay for over six weeks now and have been rejected each time! I'm looking into booking a room at a B&B for only a few more dollars. Also, I have been told there is bus service from the airport to downtown Vancouer that is cheaper than a cab.
rduke Posted April 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Have you tried different times of day to bid? late night, early morning, mid afternoon? Keep trying you still have time. I was a disbeliver too until I got the Marriot Pinnacle for $55 for mid August! dustyroad Posted April 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 15, 2004 lorabelle last sept i used hotwire to be close to the airport. each section you choose will show you chooses you can make. the hotels will have their ammenities listed. i got the howard johnson express with free shuttle for $46. it was a great hotel--clean, save and the crew were very nice. a nice restuarant was a few feet away. that was the total price including the taxes and small fee. next may i want to be downtown so i am going to use priceline. they might show the ammenities also. good luck and have a great time.
