Left over money on OBC?

Has anybody ever had any money left over when they had an on board credit due to price adjustments after final payment?

Do you loose it, or do they always give you back the leftovers on your credit card at the end of the cruise?

That would be an oxymoron!!!

Seriously, any money due you is printed out in the form of a check and slipped under your door!

I had a $100 casino credit courtesy of my TA. However, I do not frequent the casino. Toward the end of the cruise the casino was calling a couple of times a day to see when I was going to come to the casino. Finally on the last day (at sea) I showed up and they gave me $100 cash. :D

there ARE 2 different kinds of OBC. When we sailed, we had PURCHASED OBC ahead of time that the purser's desk called "refundable OBC". Then there is the OBC that you receive for promotions and price reductions, which is "non-refundable OBC". In our case, since we had both kinds, the refundable OBC was used first, ofcourse, and THEN the non-refundable.

So, in short, unless you purchased the OBC (or put "Funship Dollars" towards your S&S ahead of time), you will not get it back in cash.

You are the first one who has said this, and it sounds like my situation. So they really would keep it even if i didn't use it all up? Who would be the proper person to ask... would it be the Purser once I am onboard?

I can confirm what you're now thinking... I sailed last weekend on the Victory 2-day cruise to nowhere. I had a $50 non-refundable OBC through the CCL shareholder benefit. Surprisingly, I only used $47 on my Drink and Sink card, but the remaining $3 just disappeared at the end of the cruise. I got a statement showing $47 charged against the OBC balance, but that's it -- no further payment to me is forthcoming.

It certainly reminded me to make sure I use up every last penny I've got coming to me next time around... :)

Did you know that it was unrefundable before you went on the cruise?

BTW... looks like we will both be on the Splendour's maiden voyage! That's going to be amazing!

Terre - when did they tell you that if you didn't spend it, you would loose it? Was it once you were on the ship?

We had $550 OBC on our last cruise and they told us that if we didn't spend it, we would lose it. We got busy drinking and buying and we ended up owing Carnival $3.59!

 another member (heyitsmejudy) stated that she did receive a balance of OBC in a check in december '06.

Yes, when I went to check on the balance, she told me then that what was not used was lost.

They better give me the leftover. I have over a thousand dollars OBC due to price adjustments and I was told by the Carnival rep that anything I don't use will be issued as a check at the end of the cruise.

I was wondering if you'd tried to confirm this with anyone at Carnival since reading this post. You'll have to let us know how it turns out.
