39august Posted June 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I just booked the Extended Stay America on 17th St. in Ft Lauderdale for $114.99 as an on-line special. Current rate on phone to hotel is $149. This is for Jan. 11, 2008. Prices for hotels are very high on all the search engines I have used.
coiran Posted June 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Can you give me a link - their site still shows $149. Ron
39august Posted June 23, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted June 23, 2007 I just went into thier web site and the $114.99 was the price shown. If it is not shown today, try Expedia or Orbitz. One of those showed the same price yesterday.
coiran Posted June 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2007 Must be only for a certain time period - I was looking for March 13 & 14 and it showed $149 Ron

ChuckyMoe Posted June 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2007 Can someone tell me about the shopping and restaurants in this area please? Is there somewhere close by to buy alcohol, pop and water? We are sailing out of Miami and not sure yet whether we will be flying into Fort Lauderdale or Miami. I have already booked a cancellable hotel in Miami and was looking to do the same in Fort Lauderdale. If we fly into FLL, then this hotel is alot cheaper than what I have booked in Miami. 39august Posted June 28, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted June 28, 2007 Yes, there are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores etc. in this area. The hotel is probably about 1/2 mile from a shopping center which includes a Publix for wine, pop, water and groceries. I think there is also a liquor store. dewats784 Posted June 28, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 28, 2007 39August are you perhaps sailing on the 12th on the Grand Princess? My sister and I are. Would love to have you sign in on our roll call if this is the cruise you are taking. We are staying at the Mariott North on the 11th.
sunlover5 Posted June 28, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2007 I booked it for March 14 at 149.00, but had a 10.00 off coupon. Best rate I could find at a hotel.
booze brothers Posted June 29, 2007 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2007 Just booked Extended stay America for $114. plus taxes (Jan. 11,2008 leaving on RCL Jewel Jan. `12th) We have never stayed there but have stayed in surrounding area and it was fine. Great location, hope the accomodations will be too.
Coolmama_1 Posted June 30, 2007 #11 Share Posted June 30, 2007 That price must either be for that weekend or the fact that it is a Friday night. I need a room for 1/26 and the rate is 144.00. Enjoy your cruise!
gracecarmo Posted June 30, 2007 #12 Share Posted June 30, 2007 I also booked the Extended Stay on 17th. st for 1-25, at their regular AAA rate, as I think it is really a good bargain compared with other 17th st hotels. It's the location, time of year (late Jan. high season) that makes the price go up. I keep checking their web site to see if they offer a special for the weekend of 1-25. But, for now, I have a res. that I can change. Priceline does not show this hotel as one of the hotels on their list.
Iowaflatlander Posted June 30, 2007 #13 Share Posted June 30, 2007 Has anyone stayed at the Candlewood Suites , The Amerisuites or the Embassy Suites?
booze brothers Posted June 30, 2007 #14 Share Posted June 30, 2007 We have stayed at the Embassy and loved it. They have a great free coctail hr, and nice breakfast. I don't know if they still have free shuttle to port.

Coolmama_1 Posted July 1, 2007 #18 Share Posted July 1, 2007 thanks for the information..which embassy suites and where is it located in Ft. Lauderdale?? Still would like to know about the Candlewood Suites and the Amerisuites. We have stayed at the Amerisuites and it is close to several restaurants and a Publix. Room was fine and included continental breakfast and shuttle to cruiseport. Only downside was that there was a jam cruise group the night before and as of 2:00 pm. they were still not out of their rooms! So we had to wait until 6:00 to get into ours. The frontdesk did allow us to stow bags and leave but we couldn't check in until they actually had a room for us. All in all, we would probably stay there again. Hope this helps.
