I have never cruised RCI before and I am very much looking forward to it!!!! Especially since I am going on the cruise with Paula Deen!!! Well, anyway what I was wondering is when you are in the casino playing and can you put your room key into the machine or give it to the dealer? I know you do this on Carnival and you get points for every $ spent and then after so many points you can get cash. Like at land casinos... So, I so know that some of you have this answer for me and can tell me how RCI handles it????

I know that you can get cash advances to your account, but I don't believe you can use your card in a slot machine--at least, we've never been able to! You can get "rated" on the cruise for your play, but don't expect perks like in Vegas or Atlantic City. You are a captive gambler on the ship, and they have no incentive to entice you to play--where else would you go?

I think you can put your card in the machine and get points. Never earned enough to find out what they actually translated to, but I am almost positive I put it in.

RCI does have a similar program. You build up points based on your play and are able to cash the points in for items ranging from free drinks to dinner in the premium restaraunts.

 

Depending upon your level of play, you may also be eligible for discounts on future cruises.

Which ship was this on? My husband played Texas Hold'em night after night, day after day and was never rated or comped for anything. He didn't expect it because he knew it wasn't like Vegas. I wonder if this is limited to certain ships.

While walking through the casino on the Serenade, I noticed that there were signs on/near the slot machines encouraging you to enter your SeaPass card in order to earn "points" in their rewards program. Don't know about table play.

The point-based program that I referenced was based on my experiences onboard the Mariner of the Seas.

 

I have used future discounts earned for payment of both Mariner and Radiance cruises. The Radiance cruise is not until 10/2008 so I cannot speak directly to their casino operations as I have never been on the ship.

 

I can't imagine the program being limited to one ship.

We haven't cruise with RCCL in some time, but we're on the Navigator in October. On 3 recent NCL cruises, you sign up for a "casino at sea" card and put it into each slot machine. At the end of the cruise the points received on the card add up to cash rewards. This amount is taken off of your cabin bill. Does RCCL do the same?

Depends on the ship.........on the Jewel in March you could put your card in the slot machines and earn points.

I can't imagine a ship ratinig a player for Texas Holdem. Generally, ratings are limited to traditional casino games, not poker.

Just off Explorer and saw no evidence of the "card in slots for points" there.

There were a few people I know of that were comped by casino management based on their table play, but I don't know if they asked to be rated or if the pit was being observent.

If only they comped by how much is lost instead of how much your bet is, I would have had a free cruise (not kidding :o )

They did have the "card" program available for the slots on Serenade but, I don't remember seeing it on either Mariner or Rhapsody last year.

We were on the Voyager in December, and there was nowhere to put your card into the slot machines.

I believe I have read on here in the past (and can certainly imagine such being true) that if you are a high roller (for example $25 or above minimums on blackjack) and play for many hours, that you should ask to be rated by the pit boss before you begin play. I can see that leading to some perks, such as comped specialty dinners.

On Radiance class and Freedom class ships, the slot machines have a spot where you can insert your Seapass and earn points while you play. By the end of the cruise, depending on how many points you have accrued, you can redeem them for free drinks, t shirts, polo shirts, and a variety of other rewards. I have a closet full of casino shirts (both T and polo).LOL:D

Bill the Radiance last October did not have this feature.........unless they have upgraded her..........I'm not sure it is every Radiance Class ship yet that is outfitted for this........but I certainly could be wrong.

I just came off the Liberty and Yes they do have a place to insert your seapass card to rack up points. For 1000 points you can get a T-shirt, 20.00 internet credit, and lower points will get you some other things. I did not see dining in the specialty resturants as one of the point perks.

As for the rated casino episode. I was approached by the casino host with a letter asking me to sign up for future perks as a rated casino player. I did not ask for it, i was Approached at a 25 cent triple play poker slot machine by this person. She handed me a letter which was already made out in my name, in the letter it stated I could receive all complimentary drinks while playing in the casino, and I will receive my casino card in the mail in several weeks, along with discounts for all future cruises. I assume this person was watching me play day after day ( only on the 25 cent slot machine, which took 15 quarters per play) and that is how I got approached. We were on a B2B on the Liberty and I will say I had enough points for 9 T-shirts and 220.00 off the internet. I also did receive All my drinks for free in the Casino by showing my letter and the host told me if there was anything she could get me to just ask. I didn't have the nerve to ask for the 10K that I could of used!

Good info, I have cruised as you can see carnival. After a few cruises and I would go to the casino and they would just come up and already know my name. Then I finally figured it out!!!! Usually as soon as I get there they are already comping my drink!! They must of known e from my last cruise. But, I do have to say I win more than I lose. Carnival gives you cash back to play more for the points you earn!!! Thanks for the info!!!

Didn't say what I figured out.. They knew my name and when I got there cause of me putting my card in the machine. Then they look up your past cruise amout of what you spend!!! Oh!! Once they had our room decorated with a fruit basket.

On Mariner they have the slot for the SeaPass card at the slot machines. I didn't use it, but looking back, I certainly should have. I use them at other casinos, but thought that there wouldn't be anything worthwhile playing for.

 

I guess I will use the card on my next trip.
