Very difficult to say.

Different people have different likes and dislikes - one size does not fit all!

well we decided to go big, this is due to the fact that i get bored very quickly, i also DONT sunbathe, we were thinking the bigger it is the more we will have to do, i wish i had of found this site before i booked, but hay ho.

You will probably have a great time. Now I prefer the smaller Princess ships around the 1950 passenger size but for sure you will find alot of things to do on the Emerald. Have a great cruise.

The Emerald is a sister ship to the Crown, which I have been on, and I think it's a good choice for a first time cruiser because there IS plenty to do. My only reservation is that you seem to have picked a 10 day cruise with 3-4 sea days, which is a little more of a challenge. The Crown does a 7 day sailing out of San Juan with only 1 sea day -- you have plenty of time before final payment if you would like to look at that one. Anyway, as I said, there is plenty to do on the Crown/Emerald ---- shady spots to sit outside if you avoid the sun (as I do), Movies under the Stars during the day and the evening, the casino, broadway-style shows, other entertainment such as comedians and a hypnotist, the nightclub for late at night entertainment, the gym, dance classes, art auctions, on board shops, plenty of bars and lounges, games and trivia contests, port talks, pool games --- and that's just on the ship. I'm sure I've left a lot out.Longer cruises in general seem to attract an older group, but these ships are so big, you'll get a good selection of all ages. You 'll get a Princess Patter delivered to your staterrom every evening which lists the next day's schedule. Have a great time!

You will have a wonderful time. Emerald is a lovely ship - we were on her in the med in May. Although she is big and has lots and lots to do you never feel overwhelmed and we never waited to embark/disembark even though there were over 3,000 pax.

Lots of dining options - you can even eat a three course meal after midnight in the restaurant upstairs. Lovely food.

Caribbean and Emerald in MO make a wonderful combination. Enjoy yourselves - don't worry you will have a fantastic time.:)

I also think that you may want to rethink this. We've cruised many times and took our daughter and son in law on their first cruise. It was a 10 day cruise. They were a few years younger than you. They hated cruising and will never do it again. They loved the ports but that was about it. My daughter got sea sick. (even though she was prepared with bands and medicine) Our first 2 days were at sea and she was miserable until we got to land. They were some of the youngest adults on the ship and felt out of place. They were very upset that there was no one in the lounges late at night, etc. I just wish now that they had started out on a 7 day cruise. The passengers are usually much younger and they would have enjoyed the cruise more.

i am 28 and my girlfriends is 26, we have just booked for feb on the emerald princess to sail in the caribbean.

Is this ship a good choice for our first cruize?

When are you going? My wife and I will be sailing on the Emerald on Nov 26. While it's true that the 10-day cruises typically see a lot more older folks, it's not unusual to see some younger folks as well. We're in our late 30's.

We are sailing the Emerald Nov 6 and Feb 24. We have a wonderful group going of all ages and think it will be just fine for all age groups. We sailed the sister ship and loved it. We do like some of the smaller ships but this one is laid out in such a way that you never feel crowded or stand in lines. It has many wonderful public areas and you don't need to be out in the sun to enjoy them. The MUTS is a great addition for those who enjoy the drive-in theater type movies. A cruise is a wonderful way to meet people and relax. There is something for everyone on a cruise no matter what age you are, and the Caribbean is a great place to be in Feb! Enjoy and if you are on our Feb 24 cruise, please join our roll call and you will have friends before you even board the ship!

We are also sailing in Feb. on the Emerald - Feb 24.

I think you'll have a great time. Big ship, lots to do on-board and in port. MUTS, casino, shows, night clubs, poolside parties, plenty of places for quiet time too.

My daughter is 25 yrs. and she loved her 1st cruise on the Star Princess, a little bit smaller ship and not quite as much to do....but still plenty for her.

Hope you enjoy the 10 day itinerary, 3 sea days (my personal favorite part). 7 days just doesn't seem long enough to really unwind:)

How was the food and service? I just booked the Emerald for Dec 16th Caribbean.

I would say to the OP(that's you gingerwolf) that since your all the way from across the pond the 10 days will be great. I'm sure you'll love the ship and cruising.

Gingerwolf: welcome to CC. We are going on the Emerald in January and are looking sooo forward to it.

I like the roll call because you can "chat" w/people who are on your own sailing. From topics of where you are staying day-prior, your flight times, excursions, and just to get excited about your trip. Give it a try!!!!:p

Hey Sackman, we've got a group of 8 going on the 26th as well. We're in our 60's. Love cruising, this will be the 9th for my wife and I, Staterooms B722, B726, B730 & B734. Colorado Cruisers! May we all have a GREAT cruise!

Berthoud!!! We're in Longmont!! ha. Small world. When are you heading down to the airport? Maybe we can share a limo or something? I hate the thought of parking down there for what amounts to two weeks if I can avoid it. There's always somebody who can drive us down there if need be, but if there's a better alternative, I'm all for it.

We're in C612.
