Better Shopping: Ketchikan or Skagway?

We will have a bit of time in both ports to shop. Which one has the better "made in Alaska" gear? I am getting mixed reviews. Any store in particular? Thanks!!:)

Just returned on Saturday. For calendars, videos, etc. the Skagway Outlet Store (at the far end of Broadway from the ships) had great prices. At the east end of Creek Street, near Steadman Bridge, there is a "Made in Alaska" store that had nice selections and reasonable prices.

The last few years Skagway has gotten quite a few of the Caribbean jewelry stores there and has moved away from a lot of the "local" stores that they used to have.

 

Ketchikan has a lot more stores for buying authenic Alaskan made items.

We always thought there was a lot more to look at in Ketchikan in terms of stores.

We found lots more 'authentic articles in Ketchikan than Skagway that we were interested in and generally found it more 'enticing' to spend money:eek: :D :D
