Giantfan13 Posted December 3, 2010 #3101 Share Posted December 3, 2010 Yes that really was the best program ever. At least I got to crusie paying for the kids college.:D:D:D:D We started using the CapitalOne card when we did a Baltic cruise in 2009. They were one of the only cards that did not charge a transaction fee for any foreign purchases and we used that card extensively. Now that they have added a 2 points for every dollar spent, we use the card a lot more. But again, if you search around and are willing to use several cards you can get a few really decent deals. Especially if you pay off balances each month, so any interests rate mean nothing. Cheers Len
MagnoliaBlossom Posted December 3, 2010 #3102 Share Posted December 3, 2010 Len, we used the Capt one card in the Baltics too. I use several cards (with my business I do a lot of charging) but prefer cards that don't change around from month to month. It's more than my little blonde brain can handle. Know what ya' mean about putting the kids through college. Fortunately our first DD's college took M/C while she ws there. By the time second DD got there they had wised up to the fact that it cost them some money to use credit cards. But she was on full scholarship so it didn't really matter much anyway. Giantfan13 Posted December 3, 2010 #3103 Share Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) she was on full scholarship God's be praised, you ARE the lucky one:):):):):) Cheers Len Edited December 3, 2010 by Giantfan13
MagnoliaBlossom Posted December 4, 2010 #3104 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Indeed we are! The other daughter did not qualify because she was not a high school graduate - she was accepted into the honor's college program after her junior year in high school - thus not officially a HS grad. If we had known she wouldn't have qualified for scholarship $ then we'd have passed on the early admit. Oh well. Everyone is now grown, employed :D and I've got more money for cruisin' :D:D Oh - and did I mention the bestest bonus - grandbabies!
Giantfan13 Posted December 7, 2010 #3105 Share Posted December 7, 2010 I'll find out about that in a month or so. We are expecting our first grandbaby in January. Another way to get more miles and points Cheers Len
AerynSun_JohnCrighton Posted February 4, 2011 #3106 Share Posted February 4, 2011 Ok, I got my Ncl card today and activated it. How do I set up bill payments? (This is my first cc under myself and not my parents) Also, how can I look at the points, and what I can redeem them for? Thanks sorry I'm so clueless. MagnoliaBlossom Posted February 6, 2011 #3107 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Call customer service for how to set up autopaysa. I never do that so don't know. For rewards log in to your acct and click on the rewards tab and it will show you all the possible ways to redeem. Scroll back a few pages and I have a post about why IMHO cash back/transfer is the best value
Us2inFL Posted February 6, 2011 #3108 Share Posted February 6, 2011 I don't believe that using the bill pay feature yields points. Utilities like phone company, electric, water company etc do not qualify as purchases. In order for points to apply to utility payments, I pay the bill on the (for example) Comcast website, and use my credit card. Then it is eligible for rewards. MagnoliaBlossom Posted February 6, 2011 #3109 Share Posted February 6, 2011 That's true. The few auto payments I have are not drafts but companies who have my cc on file and charge the acct at a specified time each month. For that you need to contact the vendor not BoA
AerynSun_JohnCrighton Posted February 6, 2011 #3110 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks, I figured it out. I like to set it up so I'm not writing checks and mailing them to cc company. I like so I can pay directly from my checking... my other cc I have under my dad is set up that way and I was hoping this one could too, and it is... I just had to figure it out. ;)

Lost Sailor Posted March 27, 2011 #3114 Share Posted March 27, 2011 I received my 1st statement all the pts are there except for the 10,000 bonus points. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to get applied to the account? Thank you.
MagnoliaBlossom Posted March 28, 2011 #3115 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Seems to me it takes 6 to 8 weeks, which could be 3 billing cycles. But it's been a long time since my last new card so I could be mistaken. Look at the fine print on your terms and conditions and see what it says. Lost Sailor Posted March 28, 2011 #3116 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Thank you, just hope I have enough time to redeem them before our cruise at the end of June.
MagnoliaBlossom Posted March 30, 2011 #3117 Share Posted March 30, 2011 Just remember that even if you don't have them in time for your cruise, you can redeem at any time for cash transfer. Its really a better deal. Go back a few posts and read my explanation of why. Have a great cruise.

MagnoliaBlossom Posted April 4, 2011 #3121 Share Posted April 4, 2011 Any charge you make (not cash advances) will generate 1 pt/$. Charges on NCL get 2 pts/$. No difference in recurring charges. If your cable bill is $59/mo, it will get you 59 points every month. MB

The online store has amazing shops (american eagle, chicos, 1800 flowers with as many as 19 bonus points per dollar spent (not the norm...seemed like it was usually 2-4 bonus points.) Just discovered this myself through another thread. Good luck!
