Was attempting to arrange the onboard credit option.

DGP...only a few PCCs know how to do this. Call Faith at 480-324-5534 and she will be able to do the obc.

No problem DGP...glad to help. There is also a promo going on at BOA where you receive 5X points for booking travel...up to $2500. You have to sign up and then if you have a cruise booked but have not paid yet....you can earn some major points!

I've been attempting to redeem some points since last weekend, but each time I go through the entire process of information collection, and the NCL rep submits the request, they get a "sorry, this site is temporarily unavailable" error message with a request to call (800) 441-7048.

The folks at that number advise you must redeem points through NCL only, and please call them.

I'm really really new to the whole NCL/BOA card thing, and curious if the BOA website error is a common situation, and how long the outage normally lasts.

When I inquired if there was any way to check if the site had been operational at all during this week, the answer was, "Nope, sorry". :(

Hi, there,

I just had a wonderful experience with redeeming my points. I called 1-866-954-4077 and told the customer service person what I wanted to do and it was done. Took about 10 minutes over the phone and recieved the certificate for OBC immediately in an email... very quick and easy. Try the number listed and let me know how you make out.

Where did you find this info, and how can you sign up? That is a great deal, and I want to take advantage of it, but can't find out how.

I like to gamble a little, so when I cruise on NCL, I always use the slot redemption program, where you use 5000 points for $100 slot play. I usually come out at least even, if not ahead, so it works in my favor as a general rule.

Sorry, I read the promo wrong 5X up to 2500 points on the BOA website under the rewards tab. I went back in today and the reward site was not working and did not recogize me. You are supposed to get a registration code after you sign up for the bonus points and I have not gotten one yet. Will keep checking to see what happens.

Does anyone know why the application site does not work??

The link given in this thread says:

We apologize for any inconvenience.

The application you are requesting is currently unavailable.

whenever you click on it.

When you go on NCL's site and click on the link, it takes you to the link and you are able to fill out the information on it, then when you click the submit, you get the same message as above.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok can someone give me a hand with my BOA bill and points, based on everything I have read I don;t see how the points add up.

We got the card on our last cruise which was AprilMay this year..

Received 10,000 points for applying for the card.

Our bill on the ship was 717.19

Booked another cruise 548.92

Miscellaneous purchases 32.50

37.53

89.86

79.98

1,505.98

Now the points they said that are accrued are as follows:

12,772 monthly earning

10,000 bonus points this month

1,266 NCL bonus points

For a total of 12,772

Now I have tried to read and absorb everything but this doesn;t make sense to me..the amount of points that I got from NCL is dollar for dollar.

Am I clueless? Is it perhaps because I got the 10,000 bonus points..

Since Im new to this card, I am trying to figure out the way this card will best benefit me and my cruising addiction.

Any help would be appreciated....

The points that you receive are point for dollar, with NCL points being doubled.

So your total spending, including NCL, this month was 1506.

Plus 10,000 sign-up points

plus the "doubling" of the NCL expense, (717 + 549 = 1266)

1506 + 10000 + 1266 = 12,772

It took me awhile to get used to it too, but it does make sense.

Birdnutty, thank you, now I feel dumb...I'll keep checking back for that promo, since I have to pay the final payment on our cruise.

Also, I saw mention made of Casino at Sea, is there a problem using certificates for OBC's or for money off your cruise if you are booking thru CAS....

I never gamble enough to make me a candidate for CAS. My suggestion would be to give them a call and find out.

And check out the 5K points for $100 slot play. You can only use one per cruise, but I find it worth it. But I don't know if it's combinable with other perks, so I guess it requires a phone call either way.

If you do any online shopping, you can possibly make more points. Shopping at online stores like Target, JC PEnney, Overstock, and 200 or so more earns you many more points per dollar. The catch is that you have to go thru the BoA website first, and it's not as convenient as just clicking once. If you go to your account online and click on "rewards", there's a page that explains not only your redemption options but also how to get more points.

Nothing beats the card as it used to be. And some other cards are definitely better. If you go thru this thread there are pages and pages of suggestions.

I can't figure out how to redeem the points - is there a number to call? I've gone back in the thread and I see numbers with names saying try this or that..

Is there a specific number you use to redeem points....its just not easy

NCL.com right now is offering 10,000 points(which would be good for $100 onboard credit) after your first purchase. Would I be able to combine this $100 with $100 credit that I'm going to be receiving from my travel agent on my one cruise?? Or can you only get one onboard credit per cabin per cruise?

Go to your BoA account page. There are four tabs towards the top of the page. The one of the far right says "rewards" Click on that.

It will show you all the ways you can redeem. I always redeem for "cash deposit", as it is the best deal, so I can tell you that it is very easy. I redeemed points last week and within 5 days had the money in my checking account. It does require a little set up, like any money transfer account but once it's done it will be there for future use.

If you want to redeem for OBC or discount certificates (if memory serves me correct, cause I haven't done this but once since the new program began) click toward the center of the page (bigger box) that shows a ship and says something like "redeem now". It will give you several options and you can do it all online.

If you want cruise discounts or OBC you can also give your info to your TA and he can do it for you. Some are more thrilled (and experienced) at doing this than others, but they can do it

It really is easy once you learn how to navigate their rewards page.

I think it is use it or lose it. I have never heard of a carry over. If you don't think you'll use it all, just use $50 obc instead of all the $100, in which case you would still have 5k points left in your account. Or don't cash it in at all. Save it until you have 25k points and you can get $250 back into your checking account.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a question for anyone out there who may have an answer. Last month, when I received my NCL card statement I had 13,000+ points. By my calculation, I should have had 98,000+ points.

I called Bank of America on the 25th of July. I wasn't quite getting my point accross that I was missing 85,000 points. I was told by the customer service representative that I had asked for a check of $850. When I told her that I had not, she insisted I did. I thought that maybe I should ask for a manager. About 40 minutes later the manager came on and told me that either I had asked for it or NCL had asked for it. I told the manager that if NCL had asked for it, they never gave me credit for it which meant they took my money, and, if they did so, they did it without my consent. I really don't think they asked for it and I know I did not. The account manager then told me that I should be getting a check within a week.

On the 10th of August, when I did not receive any check, I again called. I spoke to an account representative who told me not to worry and that NCL had credited my account. I then called NCL and they told me that they neither had my credits or did they ever ask for them. I called again and the representative told me that he could hook me up with someone who would resolve my problem. I got NCL and they told me to call Bank of America. Does someone see a loop here? I called yet again and got someone who assured me that Bank of America would check to see if I cashed the check and if not send out a check for $850. I told them that I wanted the onboard credits sent to NCL. They said wait about two weeks and the matter can be resolved.

Should I just wait? Has anyone had such an experience?
