Please forgive me if this has already been asked.

I booked through a TA (on-line). Is it best for me to send my certificates to the TA, or should I send them directly to NCL?

I advise that they be sent directly to NCL Accounting in Miami (addresses are on page 1 of this thread). I'd send it via a secure means, such as USPS Express Mail, Certified Return Receipt, or Fedex.

I'd also make copies, and send 1 copy to the TA.

I would NOT send them to the TA directly, it just adds a kink in the chain for problems to arise.

Ok, the address on page 1 is different from the one on back of the cert....I should still send to the one posted on page one?

I would check with TA first. The company that we use asks that we send them to their revenue dept so they can forward to NCL. I always send w/return receipt so I will have proof that they signed for envelope.

The address on page 1 is a direct street address to NCL's accounting department (necessary for Fedex). That's the address I've always used.

The address on the certificates is a PO Box, which isn't as direct, and can't be used if you choose to go with a carrier other than the USPS.

Also, when you send in the certificate(s), I'd also send a short letter stating your reservation info that you're applying it to, as well as a copy of the reservation itself.

I strongly advise against sending them to a TA. There is absolutely no reason to, and it can only create problems. Any TA telling you that they have to go to them first is full of bunk. DON'T DO IT.

There have been posts here of NCL not receiving the certificates from TAs, and TAs taking no responsibility leaving the cruiser in a lurch of he said she said, and no proof that the certificates ever made it into NCL's hands.

These certificates are as good as cash. Treat them that way, and send them straight to the source... NCL Accounting.

I agree with Preds. I leave the TA out of the mix completely. It adds to the mess if you call NCL to check on the status and you really don't know when and/or if the TA sent the certificates in already etc. This way you deal directly with accounting. I include a copy of my reservation where I deduct the amount of the certificates and indicate the balance due if any. I have applied certificates from two different cc accounts to two different cabins and they always get it right. Just make it clear what you are doing.:D These certificates make our total now $6000 since Nov.05

I called the TA who asked that I send it directly to NCL. I will forward the TA a copy though.

You've all been great. Thansk SO much!!

Sorry..I have another question (hopefully the last)

I see the back of the voucher instructs to send a check for any remaining final payment along with the voucher.

I'll be sending the vouchers in pretty far ahead of schedule...do I have to include the remaining balance?

I'd prefer waiting until final payment is due and paying that by NCL BOA/MC directly to the TA.

has anyone done this?

You do not have to send in final payment with the certificates. I never have.

You can make final payment when it's due for the remaining balance.

We've been using our NCL MC for about a year now, after dumping our RCCL visa, which we used to think was a pretty good deal. This seems much better.

There has been references to CAS. What is this? Thanks! :)

We did the same thing. RCI was good for a 1 time deal. DW and I each got $150 on OBC just for using RCI. Now I think it is down to $100, but hey it's free money, really. The problem is you need to spend $5000 for each $50 OBC.

I have been using the NCL card but haven't gotten the first statement yet. From everything I have read here it sounds like a better deal and we are much more likely to sail NCL multiple times than RCI.

We brought traveler's checks in case the policy changed (didn't want to pay cash advance or ATM fees :( ) but I decided to take cash out at the Casino ( "for slots", they ask ;) ) and it went on our OB account at 4 points/hundred. Minimum changed from $20 to $100 but that's OK, saved me from going to the bank to get cash for the week (month :o ) when we got back. Nothing to stop me from doing that or depositing excess and paying my CC bill with it either. :D

I usually took out $100-200 but last day I decided to get $500 and they had to call the desk and wait for a response. Must have had to check my account to see if I had enough credit? :p

CAS is going to be my new adventure. Called and I qualify for 17% discount if I book through them. My friend didn't gamble enough (she was busy trying to keep track of me :o ) but she was told to fax them a copy of any Casino card and she will get the same deal.

Mike- Hudson Valley NY here (and a big hockey & NY Ranger fan) I just wanted to thank you very much for all your help that you posted here re: the NCL Compass Reward Points Info.

I printed your 7/10/07 posting and used it for all my reference info.

I have been saving these points since 2005 and I just requested 2 $500.00 certs for use on the 4 day NCL Sky cruise (2 kids going for just tax and surcharge) out of Miami in Aug.

I am currently out of work at 52 and the info you provided really helped me give the kids a vacation this summer anyway.

My final pymt is due 6/24 and I just Fed-Exed the certs today (6/9) to NCL in Miami (to the address you provided). I am hoping the $200.00 deposit I put down to hold the reservation will be credited back to my card. The 2 certs will cover the whole crusie for 4 (approx $940.00) and I don't think I get "change back" so I'll just lose the $60.00 in value.

What is your (or anyone else's-thank you) experience with NCL crediting back a deposit?

Thanks very much for all your helpful info and I'm sorry about Chris Drury.

Best regards,

Dan

Thanks for the kind words Dan, I'm just glad to contribute where I can! I feel NCL Compass Rewards is a great program, one that has allowed my family of 4 to see the world on a budget, thus I help spread the word where I can!

As for the cert's, I've never overpaid with them thus I can't answer your question directly on being refunded, however, others have reported getting their CC's credited back for overpayment's (in your case the $200 down payment). I'm not sure about the "change" however!

We'll be on the Sky for a 3 day sailing 10 days before you... too bad we're not on the same cruise!

P.S. I was a big Drury fan and was disappointed when he left, that said, I wish him well (except when the Sabres play against him)! After a disappointing 07/08, I think the Sabres will right themselves and again be a threat to contend with in 08/09... particularly now that Drury/Briere saga is a full year in the past. The controversy of losing those 2 really messed with the Sabres psyche this past season, and having that firmly in the reaview mirror is a good thing! Here's hoping for a solid draft and maybe a solid UFA vet on the blue line with some leadership abilities coming our way on July 1 (personally I'm hoping for a Jason Smith type).

Thanks Mike for the nice reply....I also wish that we were on the same sailing- we could talk hockey!! Anyway thanks again for the clarification- I am hoping the $200.00 deposit gets credited back before the next billing cycle hits on my card -approx 6/15.

As far as overpaying I figured I couldn't get all 4 of us (minus our oldest who we are driving down to college in Daytona Beach the Friday before the cruise) on a cruise for under $1,000 anyway. I'll be surrendering 60 points ($2,000 worth of charges) though - but since the cruise is costing us $940.00 for all 4 of us and the fact that I'm out of work right now and things are tight - I think I'm better off using the 2 certs and surrendering the 60 points rather than use 1 and pay the difference.

I think the majority of my points (I had 1,225 when I ordered the 2 certs) were going to expire anyway..I have had this card since 05 and MBNA.

Re: Hockey, I really have always liked Drury and his unselfish style of play. He is a true professional. In April 07 I took my 12 year old son to Nigara Falls and then up to Toronto to the Hockey hall of fame. What a trip- we even went to a Sabres game! We saw the last regular season game vs the Bruins. That was the Sabres year I thought- you were really playing great. The atomoshere in the building was terrific too- great place to seea game and I hung around afterward for a beer in that nice bar overlooking the ice....I even bought my 19 year old son Ryan (he's a goalie) a Ryan Miller Jersey.

I played D-3 college hockey back in the 70's and I now coach a travel Bantam team that my son is on. We just finished his 1st year Bantam season and they played 67 games! They went 47-11-9 and had a very satisfying year but that's a lot of traveling every weekend...(Albany,Mass.,Long Island,CT)

I hope the Sabres bounce back for you...they should -Miller is a good goalie and I always liked Ruff and his ability to get the most out of players.

Looks like Campbell is going to get $7 million plus p/year according to several hockey sites....

Thanks again Mike for all your help and for the heads up re: the physical address rather than the PO Box that's on the back of the certs.

I am Fed-Ex'ing them later today.

take care and have a great cruise on the Sky!! We were on her when she was the Pride of Aloha in August 06.

all the best-Dan

thanks Gregor for the heads up....if I am leaving 60 points (or dollars I guess) on the table do you think I can purchase $60.00 worth of something on the cruise? Thanks much....

I've always heard/read (never tried myself, though) that NCL will not let you use the points towards OBC, packages, etc and that points are only good for cruise fare, port fees/taxes, insurance, and airfare.

I'm pretty sure (not positive) we included a romance package. You would probably have to book it at the same time you book your cruise. I'm sorry I don't remember for sure. Either way for $79.00 it was a good deal.

Marlissa is right for the most part. I recently asked if I could use points for shore excursions or bar set-up and was told no. Just cruise, airfare and hotel. But I didn't ask about romance package. I also thought maybe for the automatic gratuity but was told no.

I'm new on this post and don't feel like going back and reading everything just to check on a new program with NCL Rewards. Has anyone seen this?

NCL has a program where you can upgrade 6 cats. the way i read it is for 1000 points you can upgrade from a inside cabin to a mini suite.

100 points gets the upgrade started

200 points you and a guest go from inside to a oceanview

300 points you and a guest go from oceanview to balcony

400 points you and a guest go from a balcony to a mini suite

So 1000 points could save you thousands of $$ on the right cruise.

Pay for a inside cabin and stay in a mini suite,if you can get it for a repo of 14 days or more it could cost you $50 a day PP for a mini suite WOW.

If you get NCL to agree to this, be sure you post back! For some reason, I just don't think it'll work.
