Why CB for Caribbean Princess?

Will someone please tell me why the Caribbean Princess is refered to as the CB?

 

Princess designates these codes for communication purposes.

Here's the list:

Official Designations

 

* CB - Caribbean Princess

* CO - Coral Princess

* KP - Crown Princess

* DP - Dawn Princess

* DI - Diamond Princess

* EP- Emerald Princess

* NP - Golden Princess

* AP - Grand Princess

* IP - Island Princess

* PA - Pacific Princess

* GP - Regal Princess

* RP - Royal Princess

* SA - Sapphire Princess

* CP - Sea Princess

* TP - Star Princess

* SP - Sun Princess

* TA - Tahitian Princess

It has to do with when the ships were put into commission. I don't know the exact order but Sun Princess was the SP so when they had the Sea Princess they chose CP. Then they had the Caribbean Princess and chose CB as CP was now taken and when they got to the Crown they chose KP.

 

It's the same with the GP line. Royal Princess to RP, so the Regal Princess took GP. Then the Grand had nothing so it took AP and the Golden took NP. Those don't make sense either but they had no other choice.

 

(and again, I'm not sure of the exact order but you get the idea)

Exactly, but one note. The "original" Crown was KP when it was deployed in 1990 and when the "new" Crown was introduced they re-assigned the designation, just as they have done with the "new" Royal. ;)
