Question for experienced B2B cruisers

We'd like some advice on changing cabins at the end of the first leg of the cruise for the second leg. We were unable (as yet) to get the same cabin for the second leg (booked at different times). If you had to change cabins, how was this done? Do you need to pack everything in your suitcase and move them yourself or leave them for the steward to move? Do you have to fold the hanging clothes or can they be left in the closet and moved on a rack? Any advice would be appreciated since we are very curious about this.

Thanks, Gisele
