Sea conditions in the Med. in May

Thinking about booking a Med cruise in the month of May (2-14) and wondering what is usual as far a sea conditions go. We are trying to avoid the heat of summer so it's either May or September for us. Thanks.

It was like sailing in a bathtub for our trip this past May in the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. I don't remember any tirbulence whatsoever!

Our cruise in later May was also quite smooth and the weather was just great.

We sailed May 29 and our weather was absolutely perfect. A light jacket was needed early in the morning but there were little to no showers. The seas were perfect. Now the cruise before ours could not dock at Marseille, France because the seas were too rough. Two days later, it was fine for us. You just never know. The Emerald Princess itinerary was great.

As the other said on the most part your med cruise should be very smooth. But in the med you can experience a few hours of somewhat rough seas. That's not much over a 12 or so day period but it can happen. So, I just dont' want you to think it can't happen. Again, the med is milder than most seas that you will sail.

 

Now in terms of the weather May will be fine but just to let you know April is great. We've done the med several times and we were there for most of this past April and the weather was mild and it was the beginning of tourist season in many ports of call so that ports were not too busy with tourists. Another nice time is late September/early October.

we sailed may 25th - june 6th. water was smooth and weather was excellent! highly recommend sailing in May.

We sailed April 19-May1 - great weather everywhere in port, one day of rain (last day in Rome, and it was still pleasant) and only one evening of turbulance, they slowed down the ship to get through it, but next morning, back to normal!
