Someone Asked About Chocolate Fountain........

On another thread, someone asked if Statendam served treats from a chocolate fountain.

I posted the below on that thread but got to wondering if anyone has experienced this on any cruise? It was so good, I'd love to see it done again.

This is what I posted on the other thread:

Only one time have I seen a chocolate fountain on an HAL ship. However, we almost never go to the Dessert Extravaganza so if there is one there, I wouldn't know.

Last August, back-to-backs on Maasdam, the second week (but not the first), on the last night of the cruise, they set up various tables about 10:30 - 11:00 at night. There was a chocolate table in front of the Casino Bar. Another table in front of the atrium staircase by Ocean Bar and another near the elevators at the entrance to Ocean Bar. Each table offered various nibbles, mostly hot things. There were a few typical Dutch things, some hot munchies......I don't remember exactly what they were but at the table near the Casino Bar they had a chocolate fountain and strawberries, bananas and other cut up fruit and sponge cake to dip. It was luscious!!!

Hotel Manager Simon de Boer did this and we LOVED it. Thought it a fabulous idea. The shame of it is that we had already turned in our comment sheets so no one could comment positively about it so that it might be seen again. Also, because it was last night, some folks missed it as they went back to their cabins earlier than usual to pack.

On the Noordam, we had a "Dessert Extravaganza"....there was a chocolate fountain....on the side there were beautiful large strawberries, pineapple, an assortment of melons. It was delicious.....it started at about 10:30....what a treat!!!!!:)

WE JUST RETURNED FROM THE OOSTERDAM AND THERE WAS A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN WITH LARGE STRAWBERRIES AND OTHER FRUIT FOR DIPPING AT THE DESSERT EXTRAVAGANZA ONE NIGHT.

PERSONALLY, I DIDN'T CARE FOR IT BECAUSE IT WAS MESSY....THE CHOCOLATE WAS TOO RUNNY! IT TASTED GOOD BUT I PREFER THE KIND OF CHOCOLATE THAT HARDENS AFTER YOU PUT IN ON YOUR STRAWBERRIES!

MY FAVORITE AT THE DESSERT EXTRAVAGANZA WAS THE CREPES SUZETTE! YUMMY!!!!!:)

Sail7Seas, I know what you are talking about... its not dessert extravaganza, although there are some desserts, its some sort of international food display with Italian, Indonesia, American, Mexican etc, food. ITs amazing! As far as I know, the Maasy is the only ship doing it. They made it up anyway...

YES, YES, YES, CruisinDutch........THAT'S IT!!!

They did not have it on our recent back-to-backs and I was thinking about it. It was SOOOO good.

Maybe I'll be surprised and find it on our upcoming August b2b's back on Maasdam.

I SOOOOO hope so. :)
