:confused: need some advice in a 2day prestay at a disney resort in orlando before setting sail on the disney magic... traveling with toddlers and in need of a smooth criuse check in at the resort...

What do you want to know? Your post isn't clear. Are you asking what Disney resorts are best for toddlers? Are you asking which resort is best for a pre-cruise stay? Are you asking which hotel is the least expensive for a family? All the hotels have easy cruise check in, so it really doesn't matter which one you choose. And being Disney, they are all toddler friendly. The only deviation is cost. The Grand Floridian is the most expensive while their All Star Resorts (4) have rooms starting at $129 a night. Their least expensive is their Pop Century Resort that has rooms starting at $89 a night.

We are doing just what you're talking about, staying a couple of days at Disney before going on a cruise. The Grand Floridian is really nice, but it is a lot more like an upscale resort and caters more towards adults. But the lower cost budget hotels like the Pop Century Resort or the All -Star Movie resort are more focused on kid stuff with large oversized Disney characters everywhere. :)

 

We're staying at Disney's Pop Century Resort which is a celebration of 20th century pop culture. There are huge statues of bowling pins, Lady & the Tramp, Play-Doh, Yo-Yo's, Roger Rabbit, characters from the Jungle book, and many more. The kids love them, it looks more like you're in Disneyland instead of an upscale resort. There are several heated pools with themes, a children's pool, an arcade, a water jet play area, laundry facilities, and a playground with a Goofy water feature. And we're staying there this summer for only $82 ;) a night which I think is a steal for what we're getting.

 

We went to tripadvisor dot com and read all of the reviews of this hotel and it is the highest rated and the newest of the budget Disney hotels. We could pay a lot more for one of Disney's upscale resorts but you get a lot of bang for the buck at this place. They even have a food court kind of like what you see at a mall except it's right there in your hotel.

 

Also, another thing to consider whenever you stay at any of the Disney resorts is that they will transport your suitcases from the airport to your hotel for free. They also have free Disney shuttles that will take you from the airport to the Disney hotel you're staying in. They also have free shuttles that will take you back and forth from your hotel to any of the Disney parks. The people staying at the Disney resorts also get into the park earlier and stay later. Like I said, I'm getting a lot of bang for the buck at $82 a night.:D A good message board that's all disney is at disboards dot com. The message boards there are set up almost identically to this one except the only topic is disney. And boy do those people know disney! Good luck, I hope this info. helped.

We are doing the same thing next Feb. We decided to stay at Port Orleans Riverside because it is a moderate (a few more amenities and not quite as expensive as the deluxes), it holds 5 people and we can take a boat directly to downtown disney and spend an evening there. It depends what you want to do at Disney. We are only going the day before our cruise and will not be going into any parks:( so by staying at POR we will get a little bit of a Disney feeling. Have fun planning.

if you want a "smooth cruise check in at the resort" it needs to be booked as a land & sea package through the cruise line ... if you book the land separate from the cruise, then you cannnot check in for the cruise at the resort.

For what it's worth, I have stayed at the Pop Century twice. It was wonderful. Food court, pools, everthing that is mentioned above. I have also stayed at the moderately priced Caribbean Beach and the room was identical to the one at the Pop Century. When we go we spend all of our time at the parks since it's only for a short time, so all we need is a nice clean room. Having the food court is great for breakfast and an evening snack -- we haven't had other meals there because we are gone. So budget-priced doesn't mean lack of quality at Disney! :)

You will love the Port Orleans Riverside Hotel!! Stayed twice there, once for a Pre-cruise (3 days) once for 8 days. Enjoy!

We liked the Carribean Beach resort. Stayed in the "Trinadad" area which is right next to the main pool and bar and shuttle service. Always do Disney frst. You will need the relaxation of the cruise after. ;)

My 10 year old son has stayed at the Grand Floridian 3xs and Animal Kingdom 1x, he prefers, as do I, the GF which caters to children as well :)
