Halibut Fishing in Ketchikan

Recommended Posts

We will be cruising in early June 08. My father would love to go Halibut fishing. From a search on this forum, it appears that Ketichikan would be the best of our ports to pursue this. Are there any recommended charters or captains to go out with? Also, would the Halibut be "biting" this time of year??

Just came back and June may be a bit early for the halibut. In addition Ketchican is better known for salmon. If you are going to Juneau I would opt to fish there (for halibut) as I did and we limited out in 2 hours and then got some salmon opn the way back in. June may still be too early as we went the second week of July and they had just come in.
