getting from nyc to philadelphia by train?

Recommended Posts

can someone tell me the best way to get to the cruise port in philly by taking the train from nyc? Need help and advise urgently!!!! thanks

AMTRAK and then a cab to the cruise port is about the only way you can go directly. NJ Transit, switching to SEPTA in Trenton is the only option I know of.

If you have to schlep luggage on ONE train, you can schlep on two. Save some money. AMTRAK into 30th Street Station, switch to the R1, Airport Line. Get a taxi at the airport to the cruiseport - MUCH cheaper cab fare. The R1 fare is $6 if you buy your ticket in 30th Street Station, $7 if you wait to buy it on board the train.

R1 schedule: http://www.septa.com/service/sched/pdfs/R1Airport.pdf

It's only a ten minute drive from airport to cruiseport. http://www.cruisephilly.com/pages/visitors/directions.php

Good advise from Marion Mom. The Port is at the US Navy Yard which is at the end of Broad Street. Taking the Broad Street subway means you have to schlep that luggage on a busy subway. We lived in Philly for the 1st 30 years of our life.

Assume your on the Empress so give us report when you get back. We are flying up to Philly night before and staying at Airport hotel cause it's closer. We never travel to a port outside Tampa day of cruise too many risk (delay, lost luggage, canelled flight).

Enjoy
