Celebrity Cruise tour ?

My Dh and I are planning a trip to Alaska the end of May beginning of June. We want to do the southbound cruise with the land tour first. Has anyone had any experience with Celebrity's cruise tours? Are meals included? Do you have alot of time on your own? Anyone who has done a cruise tour with both Celebrity and another cruise line, any recommendations? Thanks

From what I have seen, Celebrity's cruisetours are better than many of Princess'. However, have you considered doing the land tour on your own? Meals generally are never included on the cruiestours.

What are you interested in for the cruisetour? End of May is iffy for visiting Denali NP. The road is not open very far until June 1 and not the entire length until Jun 8. Other than that, an early land tour is probably fine.

Do your homework with cruisetours and be very informed on exactly what you are purchasing. If you want the most "time on your own", you probably need to consider at least a 7 day add on. Most have very limited free time on the shorter tours. Also consider- you won't have your own transportation, so depending on what you wish your free time for, be certain to have the location for it.

Denali Park is usually the highlight of an Alaska tour. Be certain to have the Tundra Wilderness tour included and NOT the Natural History tour. Also have this tour day as late in May as possible, the last week of May has this tour running the full route. But be aware it goes only 53 out of the potential 85 miles available after June 7, if you wish to consider the Wonder Lake SHUTTLE bus.

No meals are included in cruisetours, unless specifically mentioned. Budget 50% more than you would spend at home.

This board has extremely accurate and superb independent travel planning information, if a consideration.
