8-12-07 AOS Review

We had a great family summer vacation in San Juan and on the Adventure of the Seas. Our review was just posted in the Member Review section, and we would be happy to answer any questions about our trip and excursions. We received a lot of good ideas and accounts from these boards, and are glad to return the favor!

very nice review-- thanks or taking the time to post. Juts curious: can you explain what you meant by a table salad? Did you order that for your family or has Royal carib done away with individual salad orders with dressing of choice? I was not sure what it meant...

One night, or maybe two, I can't remember, they brought out a big cesear salad in the middle of the table, still had the regular salads on the menu

BiteMEagain/uksimonusa/red47: Sorry, we did not take any pictures of the suite--the images on the RCI website are pretty accurate. Also no pictures in the Duck and Dog. On one evening the CD organized a "sing-along" in the Duck and Dog, and the crowd spilled out into the Promenade--may become a more regular feature--the pub was jammed until 1:00 a.m.

 

roe2ship: You do need tickets for the Ice Show. They are available from guest services. There were 4 performances during the week--you should not have any trouble choosing the most convenient time.

 

red47: For the suite perks, the new bedding and linens were very impressive and comfortable. Concierge was helpful on making Portofino reservations, Ice Show tickets and excursion reservations. We did not use the lounge much, and did not check out cocktails in the evening--main seating dinner kept us on the move. Wireless internet was not available in the suites, but worked well in the designated "hot spot" locations.

 

hcat: They served the table salads two nights in the dining room. Caesar saled on "Italian night" and a very nice mixed salad on the last night. As uksimonusa described, it was served in a large bowl on a stand in the center of the table, and the headwaiter or assistant waiter served the table.

Hi, hate to be such a pest, but was there a clock? special goodies in the afternoon? quick embarkation? what was consierge's name and did he/she get in touch with you before leaving for the cruise? Thanks!

Thanks for the fine review - we are going on AOS September 9 - we are also using Fairway - one question - we have an early flight home (11:15AM) after the cruise. Did you expereince any delays when leaving the ship? Thanks again!

Here's what I was looking for if you care to reply?

 

New amenities for Suites are being rolled out across the fleet. There is no estimated time of when this will be completed.

 

1. Samsung Plasma TV's - We are in the process of rolling this amenity out fleet wide.

 

2. Clocks - We are in the process of rolling this amenity out fleet wide.

 

3. Binoculars - Binoculars are already in place on all ships with European, South American, Asian and Alaskan itineraries.

 

4. Pillow Menu - This item is already in effect fleet wide.

 

5. Complimentary Internet - We are in the process of rolling this amenity out fleet wide.

 

6. Fruit Basket Upon Arrival - This item is already in effect fleet wide.

 

7. Evian Water Upon Arrival - This item is already in effect fleet wide.

 

8. A bottle of Wine upon Arrival - This item is already in effect for those ships without concierge facilities.

 

9. Enhanced Bathroom Amenities - This item is already in effect fleet wide.

 

10. Priority tendering - This item is already in effect fleet wide.

 

11. Suite specific line at customer service - We are in the process of rolling this amenity out fleet wide.

 

12. Coffee & tea makers - This item is already in effect fleet wide."

5. Complimentary Internet - We are in the process of rolling this amenity out fleet wide. NO--I did buy the 150 minute package for $50--.33 per minute vs. .50.

 

6. Fruit Basket Upon Arrival - This item is already in effect fleet wide. YES

 

7. Evian Water Upon Arrival - This item is already in effect fleet wide. NO--but RC bottled water was provided.

 

8. A bottle of Wine upon Arrival - This item is already in effect for those ships without concierge facilities. NO

 

9. Enhanced Bathroom Amenities - This item is already in effect fleet wide. YES

 

10. Priority tendering - This item is already in effect fleet wide. N/A

Goodies in afternoon: a couple times--just so-so

 

Embarkation: There was a dedicated suite check-in

ramjet1997: We arranged for Fairways to meet us at 9:00 a.m. We were off the ship by 8:30 a.m., and through baggage/customs by 9:00 a.m. We were at the airport counter to check-in by 9:30 a.m.--you should be fine.

 

carbon: Considering the early port departures, main seating worked well for us, especially with the kids. It gave us the flexibility to enjoy the entertainment and late night activities. I might feel differently on the Aruba itinerary, with the 3 days at sea.
