Crown Princess 9/6 review

Backround: Our 14th cruise, 8 RCI, 2 Celebrity, 1 Carnival and 3rd with Princess. We are 49/48.

Embarkation: We arrived at the pier by car at 11:30am. Terminal was not crowded and embarkation was a breeze, as good as any cruise we have been on.

Ship: We were on the Caribbean Princess in January and in our opinion the design of the Crown is even better with the addition of Vines, International Cafe and the Terrace Pool not being shaded by Skywalkers.

Cabin: We had a BC category cabin, (balcony, Aloha deck) A502 mid-ship. Great location! Plenty of closet space, refrigerator, AC worked great. Upon arrival we asked our stateroom attendant Benson for two robes, egg crate, and wine glasses. Our luggage arrived in our cabin by 1:30 and we were unpacked before 2:00.

Dining: We had anytime dining. The first night we had a nice table for two in the Davinci dining room. Our service and location were so great, that we locked that table for the remainder of the cruise. Our waiter Elmer and assistant Christopher were excellent. The food was very good to excellent. Also the maitre d' was friendly and did his job very well.

International Cafe: We enjoyed the food and pastries.

Vines: Very nice atmosphere and the waiter was friendly and infomative.

Wine tasting: had a great time

Entertainment: The production shows in the Princess theater were good. The comedians were very good especially, Gary Delena. Comedian Carl Strong was very funny the first night but used a lot of the same jokes the second night.

Jeff Taveggia, the juggler, was also very good. Rudy Macaggi, known as the king of variety was outstanding.

Fitness Center: We worked out at the gym and found the facilities to be as good as any cruise ship we have been on.

MUTS: We watched Monday Night football and a night time movie and loved it. The blankets were warm and chairs nice and comfortable and popcorn was available.

Pools: We used the Terrace Pool one day and it was very peaceful and a good place to read a book. Most of the time, we used the Neptune Pool. One suggestion to Princess would be having the Raggae band playing more than 45 minutes and have more fun pool games besides just volleyball. During our other 13 cruises the pool activities would start earlier than 1:30 which was volleyball.

Ports: Grand Turk- We loved Margaritaville. We had seats by the pool and it was not overly crowded as there was only one ship in port that day. We have a drink menu if anyone wants to know drink prices.

St. Thomas- Being there nine times we just did some shopping and went back to the pool on the ship. A very relaxing day.

Bermuda- We went on the Ultimate Catamaran. We had a good time, we hung out with Kelly who we met at the Cruise Critic Party. The catamaran was very nice but this being our 10th cat excursion we usually had more music, fun and partying. On this cat, the crew member talked about the history of Bermuda way too long. Also on our past catamarans they offered more beverages and not just rum. Next time I think we will try the Restless Native Cat.

Debarkation: Our first day on the cruise we went to the guest relations desk and requested express walk off service in doing so we were one of the first off the ship at about 7:50, and we were leaving the terminal at 8:10. Turns out it was a great move from what we read about others and their debarkation experiences.

In finishing: This was a wonderful cruise, we would recommend the Crown to anyone. We missed the first cruise critic party but made the second gathering. It was nice meeting everyone and putting faces with the screen names.

Great review! Was Monday night football crowded? did you need to get there early to get a lounger?

Thanks for sharing.

Hi,

There was a decent crowd but there were open seats. It was really awesome watching it under the stars out at sea. The announcers spoke english but the commercials were in spanish. They had 2 games, the 7:00 and 9:00 games. We really enjoyed this.

Mek They only had Monday Night Football and no nascar anywhere on the ship ... Sunday in Club Fusion had Football on all afternoon it was an espn feed..btw we were pink 3 and I was the last person off the boat at about 11:30 and really wasn't so bad picking up our bags and heading to the bus was kindof a small problem because of the folks entering to start the cruise. We had a great time but my wife was a little sea sick Friday.
