SittinUnderAPalmTree Posted September 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2007 I'm looking for a beach (any beach) with a little beach bar? (we're talking small... like 10 stools or less!!!) I don't want a party atmosphere with watersports like The Boatyard offers, but rather a great beach to relax and get some food/local drinks from a little dive bar on the beach. My favorite bar ever is the Soggy Dollar Bar in Jost Van Dyke with the best Painkillers ever!!! and I'd like to find a bar similar to that. THANKS!
Aplmac Posted September 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Weiser's on the Bay...under the mahogany trees! - within spitting distance of your ship, too. It's at the South end of Brighton Beach. And at the North end is Malibu Beach Bar. What more could you want? _______________________________________
LuvMyVette Posted September 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Aplmac: Do you have any pictures of Weiser's and Brighton Beach? Is it walking distance from the ship or would we need a taxi? If so, how much? Thanks for your help as always! Sea ya!

If so, how much? Pictures of Weiser's? Not yet, but give me a few days. There are two sides to it(being it's under the trees) necessitating a morning shot to show you its road side and the sign, and then an evening shot to show you the beach side. We'll see. Walk? If you're young and sturdy, and into walking, and knew the route yes you could probably walk it, but you'd probably be better off and a lot less sweaty upon arrival with a 3-4 min. taxi ride over there. How much? I'm not that familiar with current taxi rips, but it shouldn't be more than a quick drop into the shopping center of Bridgetown, since it's about the same distance, just in the other direction! it should be about $5-10 your money, more towards the 5 end of it but what do I know? _________________________________________
Sugar*Magnolia Posted October 1, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2007 aplmac, just stumbled on this thread, again, many thanks for the info.. pics of brighton or the other mentioned beach would be GREAT!! (someone needs to throw a quick youtube clip out there, so we can see before we're there!) anyway, will check back to see if you're able to post any pics. :) Happy Sailings, CruiseDivaNJ
Aplmac Posted October 1, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2007 pics of Brighton or the other mentioned beach would be GREAT!! If you go thru all the Barbados threads at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=124you'll notice little paper-clips next to the title of the threads. These paper-clips indicate PIX ATTACHED somewhere in the thread. By now there are several Barbados-Beachy pics for you to drool over, although I'll try to get down to Brighton Beach some afternoon and take a pic 4U ____________________________________________________

Thanks again for all of your help. Looking forward to the pictures. I'm still trying to figure out what beach to visit for three hours after we walk around town for a while. You listed so many great beaches that I can't make up my mind! :) Our goal is to stay close to the ship, quiet beach with calm water, a bar/snacks/chair rentals would be a big help, bathrooms would be a plus and able to take some great pictures. Boatyard sounds like a fun place to hang out if we were going to be there for the day. I'm also tinkering with Malibu Beach and Carlisle Beach. Basically... help me please! LOL If you have any recommedations on shops near the ship that sells t-shirts that would be great. Thanks again for everything and your patience as well! Sea ya! LOL If you have any reccommedations on shops near the ship that sells t-shirts that would be great Carlisle Bay and Brighton Beach are about equal short distance from the Harbour - one on either side of it. Carlisle Bay has the edge in "nice". Carlisle Bay and Boatyard are pretty much one and the same. Boatyard (is a beach-club) ..is located ON Carlisle Bay! T-shirts..you should find before you even get out of the Harbour complex!! I'm pretty sure there are both local vendors and Duty Free shops offering T-shirts and related souvenir items. . . . . . Attaching a shot of Brighton Beach, immediately North of the Harbour. Sorry about the lo-contrast light conditions I'll try to get a better shot, soon. _____________________________________________
Aplmac Posted October 4, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2007 I'm looking for a beach (any beach) with a little beach bar? (we're talking small... like 10 stools or less!!!) ===> they've got about 8-10 stools - looked like your perfect place, honestly! I don't want a party atmosphere with watersports like The Boatyard offers, but rather a great beach to relax and get some food/local drinks from a little dive bar on the beach. Got down to Wesiers this evening to get those pics for you and here are a few starting with some exterior shots bringing you in.. The pretty Spanish speaking senoritas were from the Holiday Dream cruise ship run out of Aruba, by Pullmanturs. _______________________________________________
Aplmac Posted October 4, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 4, 2007 I was there around 5 p.m. and Lunch's buffet tables were still draped with table cloths.. Looks like Weiser's do a buffet lunch (on cruise ship days?) Both Destiny and Holiday Dream were in Port today. here are pics of the buffet tables and your clean green lunch table waiting for you ! ___________________________________________

Until I get down there again, the only other picture I can give you is this shot taken near the bar-stool area, looking out _____________________________________

My pics are not an attempt at professional promotional photography, just a local guy passing by quickly, with a Canon point-and-shoot! It wasn't a busy period for the restaurant/bar, when I was there but I took the shots anyway since I don't often get down there... __________________________________________ ORIANA sailed in this morning... CruisinChris Posted October 9, 2007 #15 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Thanks for going out of your way and sharing with us. do appreciate it. I've been thinking of heading here in March. Based on your pix and that of the beach, I think I will! Does the bar also have beach chairs?

Based on your pix and that of the beach' date=' I think I will! Does the bar also [b']have beach chairs?[/b] ...the manager's name is Andrew, and he indicated that yes they do beach chairs, and beach mats which seem more popular. Not sure about umbrella's too, but wouldn't be surprised. Buffet Lunch on busy cruise days starts at 20 local dollars (=U.S.$ 10) so let's assume lunch will be in the US$10-15 range. Showers? yes. Aplmac Posted October 23, 2007 #17 Share Posted October 23, 2007 I had Lunch today at another small beach bar -Lobster Alive - on Carlisle Bay....right next door to Boatyard, but with more charm, and of course LOBSTER, right there in a great big salt-water tank!
