My wife and I are planning on a 10 day on Constellation in March 09. We want to stay in a PH but only if my sister and her husband join us. She said yes but then started asking questions regarding comfort and privacy with respect to them staying in the living room area. Anyone have experince with this? Thanks.

We always stay in PH 6148 on the M-Class ships and to be honest, there really is no privacy in the living area. While the PH is huge, there's no way to get any kind of privacy once you're out of the bedroom area. The living room is right there in the dining room so unless you make up a time when both couples would wake every morning, you will always disturb the ones in the living room. And take it from me, the fold out bed in the PH is AWFUL. Probably the most uncomfortable bed I've ever experienced. If your intent was to share with kids, it would be fine, but for two adult couples, who might be engaging in what couples normally engage in on vacation, it's not private enough.

Four of us stayed in a PH on Infinity... my mom, adult brother, my teenage son and me. Mom and I shared the bedroom. My brother lasted about 1/2 hour on the pullout couch... got up and said he wanted my son's roll away bed. lol My son slept on the couch/bed... he seemed to be able to sleep but then, he was a teenager.

As for privacy... not really. If someone in the bedroom got up first, they could use their bathroom and then go out on the verandah from the bedroom. If the couple on the couch got up first, they could use the guest bath and then go out on the verandah from the living/dining room. That's what we did. So it can work... but the couple in the living room will be just that, in the livingroom. If you're close and that doesn't bother you... go for it. If you've ever camped together, then you'd be fine in the PH. ;)

I don't know if you're doing 4 to a room to save money but there is a Concierge Class room that connects to the Penthouse suite. Why don't you book both and have plenty of room and great sleeping and privacy too?

Were in PH on Summit & shared with 2 teens. Agree not much privacy but there are 2 full baths. Our Butler had 2 rollaways brought in & they were more comfy than couch. I had thought it would be cool to set up rollaways on balcony.

Maybe you could each have half of the days in the bdrm?

It's different if you're putting four people in the PH, but when you're talking about two "couples" this is a whole different story. Unless the couples have some sort of "signal" that they are participating in an adult situation, what would they do if the living room couple were engaging in something and the other couple came back from a show or the casino, only to find the couple in a compromising position? A little embarrassing? Yes. And, there's no way to make that living room private in any way. Yes, there is a connecting SS, not a CC cabin, next to the PH. I'm in that SS for our upcoming November cruise on Summit (6146) while the rest of my family will be in PH 6148. But I just cannot see two married couples sharing that PH unless you can come up with some great time management agreements.

Thanks for all the input. Not too worried about the privacy part, more concerned about the comfort factor. I think though, taking all the input into consideration, I might have to rethink this. Costs are not really the issue. I was only going to make my sister and husband pay the add'l person charge ($800/person). Not a bad deal for 10 days. The ajoining room is not available either. Good news, I don't have to decide for a long time (have it reserved). Again, thanks everyone.

We will be in 6147 Nov. 5th cruise on Connie.....our daughter (36) will be on the couch. We have done this on Summit and Infinity, and there is no problems. As MEcruzer stated above, the deck is right outside each area, and not bad to "chill" in while the other person is still asleep.....

Like some have posted, it's totally DIFFERENT when you're talking about taking a family member and having them stay on the couch, but when you're talking two separate couples, there IS a privacy issue. I know I would be embarassed to walk into the living room in the morning only to find the other couple engaging in a couple activity. So, putting more than two in the PH is fine when it's your kids, but when it's two couples, that's a whole different animal

The door into the cabin doesn't open right into the livingroom, either. One couple could enter the foyer and not bother the other couple if they were asleep... or not. If you were really concerned about interrupting something, you could enter the cabin through the butler's pantry and not even go by the livingroom/diningroom door. For a week? Yeah... it can be done.
