FinelyRetired Posted October 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Glad your b2b was a good one! I must admit, until you mentioned it before you left, I never would have thought of the idea of doing 2 short b2b's to create an interesting itinerary! I will NOW! Any port-specific solo experiences this trip? Martha

I also just got back from the Mariner today and had a great time. I must admit the ship was very large but after about 3 or 4 days I got use to it and all the people for the most part. Rare Lois R Posted October 22, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Hi Vince:) glad you had a good time too. I know the Mariner is larger than the ships I have sailed. Have fun on Century. I go in 2 months:D
kitty9 Posted October 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2007 Lois, we had booked Azamara for March '08, but mom and sis didn't realize that Azamara's ships were so small, so I had to cancel---mom is scared on smaller ships and how they handle rough seas. Right now, we're looking at the March 28 Galaxy out of San Juan. Have you ever been on Galaxy? I haven't, so I was wondering about the differences. I don't think there's an alternate restaurant, right? Is Galaxy scheduled for a dry dock soon?
Rare Lois R Posted October 30, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted October 30, 2007 Hi Darcie:) Galaxy is about 10 years old and no she does not have a Specialty Restuarant. She is sister ship of Mercury and Century, though of course you know Century had the $55 million overhaul last year. I have been on Mercury 5 times and this March will be my first time on Galaxy...I wish you could go on my sailing! I leave on March 7 and am really looking foward to it:D And I sailed Century 3 times before her upgrade and will be on her again in December! Seeing her for the first time with the new stuff! Drydock......from everything I have read (you know the things we read...so not sure what is what) but I do know in April she is going to drydock but only for 1-2 weeks...before she goes on her Transatlantic in May. The differences between a C-class ship and Azamara? I have not sailed the latter but I love the C-class....smaller than the M (which I know you have sailed). I really love both M and C class ships. Seems Galaxy and Mercury always get mixed reviews on the BB:rolleyes: but I LOVE Mercury and I know I will have a marvelous time on Galaxy too:) Hope this helps a little bit. kitty9 Posted October 30, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2007 Thanks so much Lois. It did help a lot. Sis and I really wanted to try Azamara, but when mom heard how small the ships are, she wasn't happy. So, off to Galaxy we go.
Rare Lois R Posted October 30, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted October 30, 2007 Darcie, glad I could help:). Is there any way the 3 of you could sail on March 7th with me?
kitty9 Posted October 31, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2007 I would love to but I'm going to the Nascar race in Las Vegas and that date doesn't work out for me. I don't get back from LV until the 5th and it would just be too much to cruise on that date. I'm really upset that we won't be on the same cruise. Darn !!!!
