bellagirl Posted November 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2007 Hi-this has prob. a really obvious answer, but what is the currency used in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar? Can one use US$ or is it the Turkish Lira? Thanks to any and all who reply. Shelly
eh2zed Posted November 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2007 Of course the Turkish Lira is OK but USD is taken as well. They are not yet in the EU so no Euros. Great place. Be prepared for some hustling but not as bad as some places.
paul929207 Posted November 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 2, 2007 If you plan to use US$, be sure you have enough small bills to get to the exact amount you are paying. Most vendors will give change in Turkish Liras.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2007 Yes, you can use either one. Assuming you use US dollars than right from the beginnng start your negotiations based on the US dollar so there is no confusion at the end. lindaann Posted November 7, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2007 When we were in the Grand Bazaar about a year ago, the merchants were very happy to take USD, Euros or Lira. These guys are master salesmen. I'm sure you could trade them your watch for merchandise!
