Recommendations for Punta Arenas?

Vitamin Sea

Recommended Posts

I'm doing the Rotterdam Feb 16 cruise. Any recommendations for excursions in Punta Arenas? I'd like to see Torres del Paine National Park; at $899 and 11.5 hours, is it worth it? Is the visibility usually good? I'm traveling alone, so I'm looking at HAL's excursions.

We did a morning tour of Punta Arenas with a private guide and in the afternoon we saw the penquins at Otway Bay. I wouldn't have missed them for anything as there were lots of them and we had missed out on seeing them at two ports.

The day we were in Punta Arenas, it was wet in the morning and very cold and windy in the afternoon. I don't think I would be happy paying out a large amount of money for a tour that is so reliant on the weather in that region. I believe that Punta Arenas is always windy and quite cold most of the year. We were there in January.
