Denisern2 Posted November 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2007 Airport is about 20 min Taxi ride apro 40.00E. Venice airport is not to large but security takes a bit. If you arrive at 8:00 you should be fine so debark around 7-7:30. Enjoy your cruise it is a fantastic voyage.

Denisern2 Posted November 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2007 Sorry I believe you will then have an extra 50-60 miles to go. Train would be a hassel with luggage. A driver is a fortune. Does Princess have a transfer?
kool kruiser Posted November 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2007 As an alternative, have you considered the possibility of booking a flight on BA or Easyjet from Marco Polo airport to London Gatwick. The cost of your wasted ( Ryanair? ) flight may be the best option for you.

49er Posted November 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 19, 2007 antsp We are on the May 24th sailing of the Emerald too and have reservations on Lufthansa out of Marco Polo at 10:15am on June 5th. I believe I have read on other posts from previous travelers that you can disembark as early as 5:00am (since the ship will be in port over night and already cleared customs). Might be a pricey cab ride to Trevieso and not sure if Princess has a shuttle there:-( BTW, we have a roll call started for this cruise and we are always open to new members http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=526864 49er
Pam in CA Posted November 20, 2007 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2007 We disembarked the Royal Princess in Venice this past Friday. They had a "silent" disembarkation where passengers went to a lounge where it was announced which colors were being called. The first with early air left at 6:15AM. One thing we learned is that when disembarking in Venice, you need to make sure you have all of your transfers set up ahead of time. It's not easy to purchase or change a transfer while onboard. We had Princess air, paid for air deviation since we weren't flying home until the 18th, and it included a transfer from the pier to airport. However, since we were staying in Venice at the Princess post-cruise hotel (we booked it independently), we thought we could just change that to go to the hotel. We had to purchase a transfer to take us to San Marco and then had to schlep to the hotel. We then had to pay another 100Euro for a water taxi from the hotel to the airport. The Princess transfer to San Marco did include taking our luggage directly to the hotel so we didn't have to deal with that. I would recommend you have your TA set up the correct transfer for you ahead of time. Everything is done by water taxi from the pier which is pretty expensive. Denisern2 Posted November 20, 2007 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2007 If you do not have flights why not just fly out of Marco Polo?
ourlol Posted November 20, 2007 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2007 On previous med cruises we've used EasyJet or British Airways (the latter of which wasn't much dearer) into Marco Polo Airport. My in-laws, however, have used Ryan Air into Treviso as they were using Liverpool Airport. We have always used Venice Limousine for our transfers. For 2 people (with luggage) to Treviso Airport in a Mercedes Luxury Sedan model E-Class Series the cost is likely to be about 70,00 Euro with taxes included. The distance from the Venice Cruise Port to Treviso is approximately 32Kms and by private car or taxi the journey time is about 45 mins - 1 hour. Obviously transfers to Marco Polo take less time. You never know you may even find someone to share the cost of the trip from the Roll Call. Laura
