Hi all! Sailed the Glory from Norfolk to the Bahamas May 24th. We had a great time. My photo review is in my signature below. This thread was so helpful, I hope my review can be helpful for someone else :)

I'm sailing her again on 10/16 from Norfolk to Bermuda and thought I'd check this thread for updates.

See my post on 5/13/2010. I still feel that way! I was hoping to read lots and lots more useful info.

I do appreciate those photos. I thought she was much more tastefully decorated than a lot of Farcus' "Bad Acid Trip" designs! :D

Since I sailed her, they've made several changes - added the Seaside Theatre and the Serenity Area.

I thought they were doing away with the pool in the spa, but it still appears on the deck plan and is in the photo on Carnival's website (but we know that Carnival's website is not always the best place to find accurate information).

Guess I'll do a search for recent reviews and start to get my Glory fix! Boy, am I ever looking forward to having Fish & Chips for lunch every day again!

Does the Glory have internet access in the cabins???

Yes, but it's very expensive and slowwwww. You waste 1/2 the time, and money, just waiting for the page to load, if at it does at all. It ended up being $27.00 per hour and if you forget to log off, they keep adding to your time but at an even higher rate. For me, it wasn't worth it accept to send an email to my daughter at camp.

It's still there - I enjoyed it two weeks ago today. It's one of my favorite places on Glory.

Sorry about the double-post earlier. I'd forgotten how slow the posting was sometimes.

That cruise was also the first time we used the sauna. The ladies steam room was out-of-order for most of the cruise. That pool was really great, though!

Read Faith's review and boy do I like the looks of the Serenity area! Got to spend some time at the one on Fantasy and really enjoyed getting away from the noise. Glory's looks every better. It was really hot back there on that aft deck on Fantasy. Still, better than nothing!

My one and only visit to a steakhouse was on Glory. It was a fantastic meal, but not sure I'm willing to spend the extra $30, especially since I'm sailing solo. Depends on how I do in the Casino! :p

Just found out about the change to the smoking policy, which delights me (I'm asthmatic). I may even stop in the piano bar for a change. And can spend more time losing my retirement funds at the slots! ;)

The Serenity area on the Glory was really nice. It was pretty windy being all the way forward on the ship. I'm actually used to seeing the adults-only area in the aft area of the ship, having sailed RCCL. I did like the aft pool area on the Glory. Seeing the retractable roof come out was pretty cool too.

I think the steakhouse is totally worth it. If we ever sail the Glory again that would be one of the first things we booked. :)

This is my first post here on the boards! We just booked a trip on the Glory for October 14, 2012 out of Norfolk. It will be our first cruise, and I am really looking forward to it! We are travelling with my husband's aunt and uncle (this is their 3rd cruise, first on Carnival) and their son, plus we will have our son with us. He will be 2.5 when we sail, so I am somewhat nervous about travelling with a little one, but I'm hoping it will all turn out fine!

I just read a review for Destiny and Froufie talked about sitting in a lounger on Deck 3, where it was calm and quiet, on one of her sea days.

Now, I've whined/griped/complained about the fact that Carnival does NOT put deck chairs on these wide, lovely outside promenade decks for a long, long time.

I have NEVER sailed a Carnival ship that had the deck chairs on these decks.

My RCI cruise, it was my absolute favorite place to spend sea days, reading and relaxing. I spent some time on my HAL cruise doing the same (although it was too cold most sea days for my taste).

I'm not a hang-around-the-pool person. I don't like the stadium layout on this class ship, and I don't like the enclosed area at the aft pools. Since I don't actually get in the pools on the ships, I like somewhere quieter and where I can usually find a seat either in the sun or the shade, depending on my mood and the temp.

So, does Carnival now put chairs on these decks and, specifically, are they on Glory?

I will be THRILLED if they have them!!!

I love the Glory so much so that I went in May and booked again for May 12!! The food is fantastic, the steakhouse is so worth it. The serentiy deck is lovely, the pool in the spa is great. Ahhhhh, I wish I were on her now.

Oh, probably my favorite was to watch a movie on the lido deck at night!!

Can any recent cruisers confirm/answer my question earlier about deck chairs on the outside promenade?

And, can anyone refresh my memory as to whether there is a hair dryer in the bathroom (like this one on Victory, as seen in the mirror), or is it in the desk drawer?

Lastly, there's no magnifying mirror, is there? There was a great lighted mirror on the desk on my HAL cruise. I've had lasik surgery so now that I can see in the distance, I need reading glasses for close stuff, which includes my makeup. Kinda hard to put on eye makeup when you're wearing glasses! :p

Just wondering if I need to pack my little stick-on magnifying mirror.

I wrote a review when I returned, but thought I'd post some thoughts about the ship here...

  • Yes, there's a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, but it isn't very strong
  • The Serenity area was nice but not very serene, unless you were there at 8 am, in one of the big, round chairs in the front.
  • The food was quite good although I steered clear of beef dishes, since I've been disappointed in the beef on Carnival for the past few years
  • Liked the Thirsty Frog beer
  • Really disliked the CD, Josh (Big Sexy) - too loud, too many announcements, and they were all just to repeatedly encourage you to do things that involved added costs
  • Got so much exercise walking from 2217 and using the stairs the entire cruise that I actually lost a couple of pounds while eating about five times a day!
  • I like the ship, but she's just too big with too many people for my tastes. I know it's all about space ratio; I just prefer a smaller ship

I posted pics of the cabin in my review thread. Didn't really take too many of the ship, except for a couple of the Serenity Area. I really like this pics of the ship docked in Bermuda.

Im going in less than a month on the December 11th. I didnt even realised untill recently that I was on this boat 2 years ago on a Canada cruise from NYC. Definitely a nice ship. Only the 2nd boat ive been on. Must like stairs because it was kind of hard to get from one side to another without them unless you went to a specific floor (not sure which one) that went the lenght of the ship.

I should enjoy this time much better. Canada cruise was chilly at night and hence no outdoor activities going on at night outside. I just wish the hot tubs and pools were open later.
